Greetings all,

'79 FJ40

I was doing some work and noticed a blob of grease at my feet on the driver's side. This is my first 40 and the first vehicle that I'm doing real work on. Is abnormal to see any amount of grease at the knuckle? In other words - is it time for me to rebuild? The passenger side looks better, but if I'm doing one I figure I might as well do both. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it’s time you can get everything you need ( except gaskets for Warn hubs, if that’s what you have ) from Kurt @cruiseroutfitters. Make sure you put the shims back in the same place they came from.

All good advice, thank you. I'll read up, gather parts and plan to dive into it in a bit.

Clean the knuckles and drive. Watch regularly if the leak increases. These are not 100% tight when rebuilded with OEM seals.
