We have 3-4 KC trucks in the shop for service (after the customer had already bought it) and all of them have been pretty bad (for the money these guys pay). Painted over rust on undercarriage, had to replace all four brake calipers bc the slide pins were rusted solid into caliper, water intrusion in headliner and vehicle due to badly installed roof rack/accessories, badly painted belt moldings to make it look “new”, etc.

It's gotta be financing right? There are much nicer and infinitely better cared for trucks here on mud for sale at better pricing. People go to these guys because they can in house finance them right?

If you're looking for a cheap unicorn yea that takes work and patience but if you're trying to just blow a bunch of cash on a truck it isn't exactly hard to find. Has to be something else at play as to why these guys do well...

I think that’s one factor for sure. I think a lot of people don’t do their research first and see cool pictures on Instagram and get sucked in and it’s the easy button (already “built”).

It’s people with more money then sense combined with “I want it now” mentality. The fact of the matter is it’s really hard to find cream puff 100 series trucks, let alone 80 series. I can totally see paying $30k for a pristine 100 series with 30k miles that’s in perfect shape and looks like a time capsule. But taking a 1999 lx470 with 200k miles, adding a lift, bumper and some fake bead locks does not make it worth $30k.

I went to Kings Chariot to check out a 2004 LC. Very clean appearing vehicle on their website. Unfortunately, they neglected to mention the poorly installed aftermarket windshield and the badly scratched hatch glass. The owner did mention replacing the windshield for me if I bought the LC, but I just said forget it and walked away. I didn't even drive it, after driving three hours to specifically look at this vehicle. If they deliberately ignored/failed to mention something as obvious as a windshield and the hatch glass, what else is not being mentioned? Potential buyer, beware.

Definition of half assed.

The problem with buying from KC are two-fold. First they modify the most rock solid, bullet proof suspension on the planet with aftermarket parts that will never be as durable as the genuine Land Cruiser specific parts. Second, for all of their photo galleries, there's not a single photo of the engine with all of the covers off and photos to show signs of oil leaks. No photos through the fender wells, no photos from underneath of the exhasut manifold. And oil leaks are very expensive to fix and can only be trusted to persons qualified to work on the engine. I might buy an unmodified LC or LX570 from them but only after I thoroughly inspect the engine and put it on a lift to inspect underneath. You out-of state guys should hire someone local before purchasing from them.
