Hey guys.. anyone here have put a hidden kill switch on FJ80? Im thinking about putting one on mine because my previous car (Honda Civic) got stolen before and it just sucks having a stolen car. Im not really sure how hard/easy to steal our FJ80s but I dont want those stupid thieves to have my FJ80 that easy..

Put a switch inline with the starter wire. Not the battery cable to the starter, the signal that closes the relay to run the starter.

I put my starter kill switch under the master switch panel

Although, like many of my kooky mods, the install wasn't exactly cut and dry

In conjunction, I added a few relays (latching) as well as an adjustable timer relay to shut down the video surveillance system for 10 seconds to avoid damage from voltage spikes during start up :meh:

This is all providing a thief actually sticks around after setting off the alarm :p

which is highly unlikely ;)

If Knight Rider were a Land Cruiser it would be 98Snake eaters :)

As well as an alarm and immobiliser i hid a kill switch to the fuel pump

Chris, Where did you hide the kill switch?

You really expect him to answer that question?

No one knows where the kill switch is located. That's the whole purpose of havering a "hidden" switch.

Be creative under dash, hood, carpet, pass side, rear hatch.......... No one will ever know but you. That's the point.

Can anyone PM how to wire a switch in? I am no electrical guy :( On another note, where can I find light switches for roof rack lights that I can fit into coin holders on the center console? Please PM me that info too if you have it. Thanks.

Nearly any dash switch can be repurposed for the coin slots. Then it's just looking at the EWD to see the schematic.

Sorry for the delay been away from this site for a while. A good place to hide the kill switch is on the inside of the centre console where there is a gap next to the base of the hand brake where you can reach inside

Bump

Can someone PM me the schematic for a kill switch, and best suggestions for location and type.

Thanks MUD :flipoff2:

Here’s one example

Mud requires thick skin.

Upon reading my previous post I realized I wasn't specific.

Love me some MUD :flipoff2: ;)

Correction

What kill switch has worked for you on an FZJ80, please feel free to PM me.

Kill switch is good if you remember and use it.
I wired a kill system that auto resets every time you shut the ignition off. To start the ignition needs to be in the on position and you press a momentary secret button to complete the EFI circuit and then it will start. If you do not complete the sequence all it does is crank. Once you shut the engine off its start over. It is so seamless many watch knowing and never see the secret.
