Let me know as I am thinking of working a half day and want to head out early to avoid the weekend rush.

Let me know. Thinking of working half day Friday and would be done by 10am. Hit road early to avoid the Friday late afternoon traffic up I 17

Was up there this morning-many nice sites off 231. Took the 40 and 4Runner
 
I did a test run today on 237 between 89A and 17. It only takes about 20 minutes on lightly rocky dirt road and it is a great way to get to the campsite after the Schnebly Hill Road run. I'm looking forward to this at the end of June!
 
How far is the campsite from Phoenix? If we headed up Friday after work would that work? I'm thinking of making Dutch oven American spaghetti and garlic bread for Saturday night!

It's about 3.5 hours if I remember correctly because about an hour is on dirt after you hit Sedona area. Heading up after work would probably be fine, you may be coming in after dark but should be ok if you download the map offline coordinates 34.978315, -111.814385; either way I recall mostly reliable cell signal/Google maps. A lot of people last year came up on Sat AM.

Use google maps it's the most successful getting you to camp and I saved the mentioned above from a wrong turn It is one hour on dirt roads!
 
It is longer than an hour on dirt roads with an FJ40, lol!!!! @Clunky I would like to check out that route you mentioned. I am guessing there is a connection off Schnebly Hill road?? So 237 is off Schnebly Hill Road and cuts over to 238 or 231 or 235? The areas back there are pretty new to me but really cool. I also took the 40 down senator Highwy to Palace Station yesterday, so she got plenty of miles this weekend.

Schnebly Hill road is between I-17 and 89A. Would have to cross 89A to connect to those forest service roads. On this year's travel map the first place to cross between I-17 and 89A once your on the rim is south of Kachina Village.
