It's Rustoleum Safety Red :D truck needs washed too, then it will stand out more.

You should have no problem flat towing with yours, I get about 15-18 mpg towing and like I said can barley tell it is there unless you are on a portion of the highway that is a little rough or a tractor trailer flies past you and blows you around. I tow with the tranny in the "D" selection, not 4, haven't had a problem with it searching for gears. Just pull the rear drive shaft and unlock the front hubs and you are good to go. I use tow lights from Harbor Freight and they work well, the harness is a little short, but haven't had a problem yet. The 88 4 Runner does seem to tow a little better when the tires are air down a bit, say around 25 psi. Any other questions on flat towing let me know.

Yeah I saw those, but the nice part about the TG plate is that I don't have to fab any of the mounting parts for it and it bolts right in.

Then I will cut up my old Tacoma front tube bumper and make it work with the mounting plate. Will take minimal work to make fit and work with this mount.

If Bud came up with something similar to the TG mount I would buy it, I had several of his parts on my Tacoma and am running his crossmember on the 4 Runner.

Well the half doors are done and work great. Also picked up a bikini top from a Jeep a few months back and finally made the mounting bracket for it, so now I have some shade. Wheeled at the Carlisle Truck show and almost rolled it :D looks like I smacked the rear diff pretty good, looks like I will be welding on my pipe cap here soon, since the dent is pretty good and it gouged the housing too.

Currently just working on the front axle tear down and cleaning up the springs for the RUF. The engine has a bit of a hesitation in it, not sure what that is about, but it still runs well.

Sounds like this thing is really coming along. Nice work!

It's getting there, your FJ40 is looking great, it will be great to see it and you on the trail again.

Well I have a few parts coming in a couple of days so when I am on vacation with kido number 2 being born, I can sneak out to the garage and do some stuff. The front bumper will be done and the axle pretty much buitl with the exception of the IFS hub bodies, since they are still on the 4 Runner. Hopefully make it to the wheeling event in November too.

I am going to be holding off on cutting the IFS out for now, our house may be sold here in the next week or two and I will need to set up the shop at the new house and don't need a truck to move without a front end. Nice part is that we are only moving about 15 minutes away, but the house is about twice the size and the garage is quite a bit bigger too. Only downside is that I will now be a suburbanite, we are moving to a development :D

I was going to make a comment that you and Chris will be in the same boat . . . Chris beat me to it!

It's ok, I figure I can scare the neighbors a bit with this truck when it is done and on 39's :) The benefits really outway the negatives, hell we have an almost 200 acre township park 5 minutes away and all the shopping we do is right there and cuts our travel time to work in half. Plus the house is really nice and quite, seems like everyone minds to themselves for the most part.

Well, I can't beat you on the drive to work, but we have an 85,000 acre backyard, it's really quiet, and we definitely don't get bothered by the neighbors! oh yeah, shopping is harder, too.

We'll call it a draw!

Congrats on the new house!

Thanks, hopefully the offer the one couple is prepared to make is what we are willing to take, it's a hell of a house market these days. the fun part is if we get the new place is going to be having a wrenchfest, that may really scare the neighbors :D

Just don't invite Chris and you'll probably be okay.

Got the front axle built over the weekend, just need the IFS wheel hubs and I can put the rest of it together. Should be getting my parts soon, so I can build the front bumper when Colin is born, which will be tomorrow since labor will be induced at 7:30 am :D

Hmmm....I guess the countdown should be commencing....

Good luck, you guys!

Just don't invite Chris and you'll probably be okay.

Hey wait a mi.... Thats not fai.... Aww who am I kidding. If I have the time I'll come turn some wrenches and scare your neighbors. Good luck with the baby birthing.

I'd like to make another wench fest sometime soon, too. I mean, WRENCH fest. Sorry.
