Just buy a gallon of purple power and a spray bottle from Wally World and save a little money. You'll go through a 32oz bottle quick. Might not want to do it this weekend! Gonna be cold!

Hate that I missed wrenching today, watching Jrob have his arm attached and what not, but I finally...after 18 days of working straight....got 2 hours to work on the cruiser.
I got all the seats out, gas tank cover removed, all the bolts, but one out of the roll bar, took out the seatbelts, all doors, yada yada....in prep for opening my grinder Christmas day.
I looked and looked for pics of the below but could never find where someone conclusively described it and if it's for the rear heater or some other hose needed for the heat.
Is this hose in the middle of the floor for the rear heater. I followed it to the fire wall and it ties into the line going into the front heater from the firewall.....I don't even have, or want, a rear heater so can I just remove this and plug the hole.....with??
Yep that's the rear heater hose. Whoever took the heater out just hooked the 2 hoses together. Find another heater and you are set. Lash might have one. You can just take the hose out and cap it right behind the silver guard. With the heater valve closed there shouldn't be any fluid passing through the hoses anyway.

freakin PO causes me headaches!!! since I don't know anything...any ideas on a good material for capping it? I read about 10 threads on heaters, but it's mostly on the engine side of the firewall stuff.
Hey Andy....you got a rear heater...want some decent hose for it....cause I don't want a rear heater.
You can even go to auto zone and look at their pre bent hoses (for other applications) and cut it to work. Just check the size. I have seen them capped off in various ways as well. I don't see any reason they have to pass water since the valve shuts off the water flow. You might get another opinon on that since I might be wrong on that.
The water currently in the rear heater lines and anywhere in the system at a higher point than the area you open will rush out. Yes, be sure the heater valve is closed. Ask me how I know...
And use hose or caps that are rated at ~200 degrees or they'll melt.

My PO utilized a spark plug and hose clamp to plug the heater hose under the hood. That may not be the look you are looking for (HA!). I plan on running new hose at some point so I will take what you got, I like free stuff.
If you really really want to do it right, you will need to swap out the two metal lines that pass thru the firewall from the current lines with rear heater nipples to lines that don't have the rear nipples. I have a pair from the '74 I'm parting out. Someone wanting to add a rear heater could use yours.

Thanks but I think it will be much easier to just plug those 2 lines and be done with it. If I was doing a restoration and not a "preservation" I would be all over it.
ok so I tore out all the old stuff and ran a piece of rubber hose from nipple to nipple (yes Jeff I said it twice in one sentence) and then clamped them. I am not to worried about the 200 degree rating as this piece of hose was on the rear heater and did not, I repeat, did not have metal pipe in it....so it's time tested.....Lash, Jeff yall think that is sound logic?
I also as stated in an earlier post had a dry rotted, torn drain pipe so I replaced it too.
See pics and tell me what yall think..my only concern is the bend in the bottom of the rubber hose joining the 2 nipples together. I may try to relieve the crease by rigging it to the plate I sized in picture 3. (you can also see the electric line for the rear heater tucked up above in case it's ever needed.
