For the rear suspention I had high hopes for (and still do) but decided to keep it simple inorder to use it this year. I ended up using R.E. parts again with 4130 2"x.25" wall Chormoly tubing for the bottom control arms and 1.25"x.25" DOM for the top. I started by using the "hour glass" style rubber ends but ended up switching to OEM jeep rubber bushings. The oposite end is the famous R.E. rebuildable wable joint.
I bent the lower arms slightly to gain just a little more clearance.

The hardwere for these Toyota's are crazy big and wouldn't work with my joints so I came up with a plan that worked quite well. I cut some "Hat" shaped reducing bushings on my leathe. I then inserted them and welded them into place. I also added some welds to the brakets on the frame.

For the larger joints I was able to use 9/16" grade 8 hardwere and 1/2" for the smaller joints. I had to spread the factory mounts only a fraction but by building a spreader tool it was easy.

JODO = not effing around. top:banana::wrench:...

Yes Dusty, Hydro is in our future. I've had the hydro system on three other rigs and I love it! Takes alot of stress off the box. Hows your ride coming along (Sweet-42)?

When the hydrosteer goes in why not convert it from radius arms to a triangulated 4 link front?

True Craftsman!

I wish I had the drive and resources to accomplish such a build on my 97 LX450 in similar shape, are you ready to trade and start again?

Roseville? I'll be up this weekend with a 6 pack so you can do my 80. ;)

Can't wait to read the ride reviews.

LC80,

You can't run a triangulated four link in the front unless you have full hydro steer. The best front "link system" involves a panard bar. Done right will eliminate bum-steer.

Geologic,

Start again you say... Don't tempt me. I really enjoyed this build and if I had the time would do it again.

Lenross1,

I live in Roseville Ca.

heckler,

The flange came from Toyota on the diff. I bought both new from the dealer.

I'll take more pics this weekend and post them.

Sorry LC80... I'm bad.

Correct me if I'm wrong but full hydro is not street legal and has no memory after a turn (one reason why not street legal).

Continuing on I took more pictures of the finished (for now) cross member.

Beautiful work, very nicely done.

You may want to consider widening the skid plate on either side of the t-case or wrapping it up and around it some. That has saved me several times when pounding through brush, and I've seen quite a few cruisers that have scrape marks up the side of their t-case from being off-camber and coming down on a rock. Several people have done trail removals of their speedo sensors....not fun.
