Found this a month ago and was finally able to pick it up. 1963 FST 40. Most of the body is in good shape the frame has some issues ( they were going to put a 4 runner suspension on the 40 frame ) Well now its a my house. No big plans yet its been fun pulling everything out and cleaning it up. Most of the rig was buried in sand, parts in boxes and some stored in an old shed. Still figuring out what all we have.

Nice score Rob. Does the VIN start with a 3 or a 2? That tub I got from Georg was suppose to be a 63 but found a insurance card and VIN from that cruiser started with a 2. It also has the barn doors not a tailgate.

Guess maybe it is a 1962 ?

Whoknows what model year it is. Today model year seems to start when ever they want and stagger with other models. Not sure we have seen a early soft top with a 63 production date. Plenty with 63 title. That was It was mainly interstint in.

Is that a rare floor shift on a early three speed or is that a Chevy transmission adapted to a early transfer case? That doesn't look like a FJ40 bellhousing.

That speedo cleaned right up! You’ll be putting around in her in a couple weeks...

Some other items that came with the 40. This Super rare early V-8 conversion complete with standard for the day twin stick LOLOL

If Georg has a show room he would display that twin stick, really belongs in a musuem. My early 61 had a shifter directly on the transfer from 4WD and the high low still on the dash.

Besides the transmission floor shift it also has a reverse light switch.

The Jewel of the desert will be in the For sale section soon if anyones interested
