2) rot hole I found after foot rest was removed
3) at least the front sway is still attached :). Time for a front axle service too.

Transfer and linkage shots.

Anything look weird in the shots? When I shift out of H2, I can move the shifter in a circle. I was able to find low once, but something ain't right. Sound like bad bushings??

So stereo is not plug and play. And since GROM doesn't make an iPod interface for the 80 series radios I bought an Alpine HD Radio unit on sale today.
My FSM with diagram is at home. Anyone know the wiring color scheme for 62s? If so, I will have tunes on the way home :)

Stereo Wiring Diagram

This evening I searched the interwebs and came up with a compilation of a few bits of info. Combined with what I know of the wiring colors from the plugs on the truck, this is what I came up with. Will test it in the morning when I finish the stereo install. Wire coloring on the diagram is industry standard; notes in red are the wire colors in my 1990 FJ62. Will makes changes if I find there are errors. If anyone with older trucks can confirm if it matches theirs we can make some kind of official posting as I could find none in my search. It was all "find it on your own."

17.72mpg. Same track as first tank only reversed. Less redlights tonight once I got back on the right side of the bay. Pretty happy with that; imagine it will go up a bit with ATs instead of these obnoxious MTs :)??
 
Another one of my favorite <$50 upgrades- instrument bulbs. Did this with my other 62 asap and did it on this one after the stereo upgrade. Can't stand the green ones, especially with the many hours I've spent in both of them :). These are silvastar variety, $9.99 per pack, 2 needed. Autozone brand is cheaper, but works well too.

Well...it was meant to be pulled by the Goat as extra capacity on relief trips. Through a bit of a SNAFU (documented in the trailer forum) I purchased an M105 instead of an M101A2. So I have two options- buy an aftermarket axle with electric brakes so it is useable behind the 62...or buy a deuce.
I've actually been hoping to get to the point soon where I could buy a deuce and a half (bobbed or stock) to allow a lot of capacity for these trips I like to do. The capability of the deuce would also allow me/us to get into places like eastern NC or north of me (as in Hurricane Sandy) as soon as the wind starts to die down if possible.
Judging by my wife's response to the new trailer...I've got to figure out where a deuce would have to live outside of our yard if that is ever going to happen.
I'm going to think about the options through the winter to see what I can come up with.

I also haven't forgotten about your PM. Yesterday is my son's 2nd b-day, so we've been busy with that. Apparently I have a work trip to Quebec coming up for the beginning of the week, so I'll write something for you on the plane.

Trailer brings back memories of driving in the back of a OD Green 5 ton...freezing my butt of in Germany. Our equipment being bounced around in the same trailer!

The trailer is immaculate. I really should get rid of it for something else...but I just can't part with it :).
