Truck was supposed to be started up today!! They're gonna test run it next week a bit, so hopefully I'll have it back soon.
Guess I've been calling a lot lately...they laughed and offered to set up a Skype feed for me so I can talk to it :). Seriously, I'm gonna set up an account now!? Or maybe the truck can have its own Twitter acct? @BlueGoatWithCojones ??

I miss my blue truck :'( . Only saw it once since before Memorial Day. Sniff, sniff.

Thats a great build, and nice work helping those who cant help them selfs right now!

RAMZ. <><

Thanks! It's actually one of the reasons I'm anxious to get it back- planning to take stuff up to Jersey to help with folks hit hard (harder than we were) by Sandy. And I've roped Johnny (GLTH60) into it this time :).
In all reality, I probably shouldnt take it due to engine break in period? Depends I guess on whether or not I need to pull a trailer with it.
It is definitely going to the in-laws for the holidays though!!!

Got the call today...truck is ready to go :). They gave the truck a lookover and found the shackle nuts a little loose, headlight and marker light out.
I know it needs a front axle service soon and I'm thinking about doing the rear diff, possibly with an ARB?
Not too bad for a truck my friend bought for 1900 without much tire kickin and I bought with a bit more kicking :). And 315k on the clock.

Going to get her Saturday!!

Sorry, I got it home last night. It was a looong day- it is about a 4hr drive around the bay to Fredericksburg. Got there and the truck was on the lift with the oil pan missing. Lance had taken it for a test drive in the morning and noticed a small oil weep in the corner. They had a new gasket on it, tested and ok'd in under 2 hrs.

About half way home I realized that since I had tagged and registered it in Va after dropping it at IPOR, I hadn't taken it in for my state safety inspection :). So after driving it all weekend I guess I should get that done first thing tomorrow! Especially since I'm driving to Atlantic City tomorrow most likely.

Truck runs very well, I'm very happy with the drivetrain choices. Will take a ton of pictures when I get back. Everything rattled like crazy on the ride home. I've narrowed down most of it already: 1) expanded metal floor on roof rack buzzes everything the doors shut and terribly at about the 30mph mark, 2) all spare parts and leftover nuts and bolts rattling in a box in the back-easy fix, and 3) the biggest offender was an old rusty hide-a-key box in the ashtray. Made the truck sound like the dash was coming off! Will take the roof rack off for my trip tomorrow to see how that affects rattle and wind noise.

Truck runs great. Gonna give it a little extended test run, as mentioned to south/central NJ tomorrow. So far I have collected enough stuff to fill the inside of the cruiser- basically every bit of space but the drivers seat. That will work out well as I didn't want to tow a trailer if I didnt have to. I've gotten a number of monetary donations as well, so my plan is to drop off the stuff I've collected, then hit the store and buy some Thanksgiving dinner kits :). Will post a few pics of that to. Excited for the trip...just wish the stereo was working :).

Drove the truck for about 3hrs tonight up to Lewes, DE. Noise level from wind and rattling dropped signifigantly with the old Con-Ferr rack off.

Here's a quick shot I took before leaving. Truck is loaded pretty well, still enough space to see a sliver out the back window. Will be delivering the load in the morning, then purchasing more food items at a local store. More pics tomorrow :).

I stopped at AutoZone on the drive last night to pick up a few things to keep me busy on the ferry ride :).

Number one was something I found on the ride home from Fredericksburg. Maybe someone can chime in on this- I now have a late 85 tcase on the back of my tranny. This eliminates the air solenoids that switch the truck to 4x4.
I found a significant source of road noise and air coming thru this gap in the boot:

So my guess is the 60 shifter is quite a bit thinner than the 62?

So while waiting in the loading area I added a hose clamp temporarily to close it off. Looks like I need a 60 tcase boot for a real fix??
