I've got a 40th as well and my hood has fade spots. would you recommend doing the same? thanks.

As long as the metallic base coat still looks relatively good, then yes. I really wanted to avoid having to try and match the fenders as color matching and blending light metallic is very difficult.

Alright I will check mine out to see if it is still good. Really like the bumper you have and have been thinking of picking that one up in the near future or trying to do a hideaway winch.

I am a huge fan of the Shortbus bumper. I had it powder coated the gray metallic trim color and it looks really good. I recommend Slee for sure.

Sleeved the rear lower control arms. Dragging them around and fear of bending them drove me to do this. Pretty simple to do and I gained the benefit of lengthening them 11mm as well.

I began my rear bumper build this weekend. I have always wanted a rear bumper, but never liked the idea of spending north of a grand for virtually any thing out there, kit or otherwise, especially once you have added powder-coat or accessories.. I love the 4x4 labs rear, but has kind of become too much of a "me too" bumper so I set out to design my own. I am going to call it "high and tight". The idea is to have a strong main bar, real bumper ends, and have the ability to tow a light trailer. Of course, I want protection to the quarter and flare as well, so that is a given. Here is the start, more pics and progress to come over the next few weeks. Also, no plans for a swing out as the tire is inside for now. If I ever decide to add a spindle, it won't be to hard as I am building the main bar out far enough to take the spindle if needed.

Bumper is off the truck now. All tacked together. Just need to do a few more braces and the finishing welds and cleanup before primer and paint.

Bumper is done, just need to tough up some black on the recovery points. Nice to pick up some clearance and armor at the same time.

Also installed this bad boy - FTM-400DR. Once I am completely sure I want it in that location I will hide the wire.

Sweet ride

Your bumper looks great, very nice!
Sweet radio too. Sure like those BIG numbers/letters compared to my old FT8800.

Is that radio a regular ham? I have not bought one yet, but i like those remote mount units. I followed the link and all the jargon is over my head for now. It looks great and clear. Would be cool if it had a video input to use it like a rearview cam monitor too.

I am only about six months into the ham world, so I have done tons of research. Used it for about five hours last weekend and it is everything I wanted. Pretty simple to use and program as well. No video input though, but it does function like two radios in one. Dual transmit, dual receive, etc..

I’ll go ahead and start up a group buy for that rear bumper. ;)
I agree it’s the best looking and simple. Well done!!

That rear bumper looks awesome! You didn't trim the lower quarter panels did you?
