Playing with the triple sticks ... ( @J Mack )

Left to Right, forward to back
Low.... (double)Low.......2WD
High................ High .......4WD

Or something like that.

Has to bend shifters and short the threaded rods to make it all clear. Pretty cool overall though.

The LRA tank hangs WAY down on a real 55 frame too. I don’t think his will hang out more than mine does after the sick bumper drawing.

I don’t really do any rock whomping anymore but I’ve got lots of serious trail rides on it with no problems whacking it. I have hit the corners if the bumper and the 2” receiver many times though.

I know ledge trails and boulders and backing up could be an issue but it’s Not what I get to do now living in the south

Didn’t get started until 5:30pm when a real mechanic friend came over. It was really nice to have someone who deals with this all day everyday except he kept talking about how easy LS swaps are...

got the routing done, alternator re-wired, fuse box locations figured out, hole in firewall for plugs, and every plug has a home to connect to except one. I think they messed up and put a male connector where a female goes.

my automatic trans harness out of the LX470 is needed to trick the ECU with the manual transmission. Mine has two bad smushed plugs and I’ll need a new/used one ASAP. Won’t stop it from cranking, will just throw CELs. The resisters basically make it think I’m in neutral all the time.

spent an hour getting the clutch to mount in the original location before I realized it would be way to short... so get to re-do it all tomorrow! Woot woot!

not a lot of good pics, but have a real handle on the wiring now: plug in about 20 plugs and wire in about 6 and she’ll crank. The cruise control is about 10 more plugs that I’ll deal with later.

LS swaps are pretty sweet, but not sure why you’d need to do that when you have a Toyota V8 right there, eh?! One of the several reasons you went this route, eh? Sometimes with friends you just have to smile and nod.

He’s a good dude. Just talking s***. He came up in the world with old Toyotas and Samurai buggies, now has a 600hp rock bouncer.

When all someone does is fix cars for a living, it’s amazing how fast they will just starting identifying issues, pulling parts, and making stuff happen. I needed that with the harness.

this is him in the very first part of the video. Nitrous solenoid was stuck on and flooded the motor.

Which side does the 2UZ breath from? My 1uz is on PS and I have to move my battery to make room for an air filter box at some point.. Also, looks like your fan for the interior is gone, how are you handling that? Would like to get rid of the big old squirrel cage and use something smalller (complete removal is not an option for the inspection it has to go through). Coming along nicely though!

@Calgary40

I’m going to the store to make an intake today. Out of the front of the engine, U around to the passenger side by the fire wall/vent.

I’m not sure about the interior fan? It has an aftermarket AC! Critical here in Alabama

Nice! We need heat before AC up here :)
Perhaps yours is just be recirculating cabin air, might even have an electric heater in it (I don't know much about them)
FWIW, I'm going to use my AC compressor for airing up tires down the road, you know, once I get a suspension under the old swine..

Real time update and ???

it sits perfect right now... going to add 500lbs to the rear... package just showed up with some rear 0.8” spacers and some 1.2” spacers...
—>what should I put on in hopes that after it squats, it’s right on the first try? I’m thinking 1.2”

In the big scheme of this build, swapping springs and/or spacers isn’t that bad, but if I guess right, one less thing to do later. I think the spring rate is right, just need to set ride height.

...have to finish distance learning before going to the shop ....

This gas filler tube was a disappointment from the new gas tank: the stock one is too short, has nothing to do with the 80 frame, it would be short on any of them. I feel like if every kit you sell needs a part, include it in the kit. That and the brackets not fitting is silly to me. Anyway, pulled it off, walked around the auto parts store and found one similar shaped but 5” longer and got it in.

Intake was easier than I thought. Besides looking like a high school kids Civic, it all went on smoothly. I’m going to have to scuff it up and paint it black though.

Got the alternator rewired and heater hoses routed. Just plugging away.

there is a huge Cruiser ride near me this weekend, but I’m afraid I’ll really need those two days in the shop if I’m to make the SSS in 7 weeks. I’ll be gone 2 weeks of the next 7 for work and this combo from SIX different trucks is completely untested
