still working on it as life has been getting in the way :frown:

I'm still hoping for a nice weekend so I can clean the garage put tools away so I can work again on it without tripping on everything

thoughts

now that im just about ready to button up the outside I was thinking about poss getting the roof/front/back closed cell spray foamed .
it would help with water damage , make the trailer more rigid and give more of a substrate for the aluminum skin then just the stringers going across .
What do you guys think?

I think it's a good idea.
It'll buy you some extra insulation, and all the othert features mentioned, and little weight and cost.

I think that would be the ultimate...spray foam rocks! Although it's not cheap....I think it'll bring a lot of good advantages against the cost...been thinking about the same thing.

Are you planning on running 1/4" under the aluminum...have you thought about filon?

Let me know if you need a hand

started playing again as it was a nice day (all it's done this year is rain just about every weekend  )
I found a auto transfer switch for my 110 line so I can have automatic switching from the shoreline to the inverter and hooked that up . Started to "fake"(lowes stuff) tyvek the side walls . I couldnt find a spray foam person who would do my trailer (too small , not worth the time, dicks dont have no jobs thou  )so It looks like the roof is getting ridged foam with a layer of the tyvek stuff and then a layer of the foil covered thin bubble wrap used around heating ducts. .
I'm hoping to get a good day in it tomorrow after the around the house work gets done and get some more pixs up .

I am very anxious to see how this ends up. We have a RV park down by Jullian California that only allows vintage trailers in it. Some of them are so kool looking it is amazing. You have a very unsual one and will be very eye catching when done. Hope you get to work on it over the winter.

Hey Koffer

Could you move the trailer down to a house site where they will be spraying foam?

The other option is to find a builder supply store where the contractors shop. The one here has sitting on their counter two different size kits for spray foam. It has two bottles and a mixing wand. The prices varied on the size. I need to pick up one more to finish out our new house in the attic.

If you could get me the manufacture name of the foam, That would help, My Dads been out of the building game too long and most of the places that supply contractors are Assholes "R"us if you ask anything of them with no idea of who makes it .

sorry about the sideways picture...it is DOW Froth-Pak Foam Sealant. They had two sizes on their counter this morning. One was 12 and the other 200.

$337 for the 200 pack

Thanks Brian
I took the trailer out of the garage and started working on it and of course work called and back inside it went again
I did have enough time to find out how much I would need. 154sqft so the 200 size should be enough .
One of the local hardware stores didnt have it but did call me to say they were going to get some in this week since I was the 5th person to look for it last week so I think I'm good so far .
I'm off from Tuesday to the next Monday so I might be able to get more done this week (if it doesn't rain or snow  )

Picked up my Dow 200 stuff for the trailer this morning before work . I found it online for $309 with local pickup not too far away . The place that was going to get it locally has it now and wants $467+ tax for the same thing . Sorry I'm all about buying local but sorry that's too much. The morning drive was well worth it.
I'm hoping to prep the trailer and warm everything up to 70 to 80 deg starting Friday night after work (trailer and product ) so I can spray it this weekend. (we'll see how that goes with work calling  )

Thanks again BK for the lead on this stuff .

Sounds like a mess waiting to happen ;)

For anyone else following this, the 200 in the description refers to the amount of square footage it will cover one inch thick.

The trailer's out in the garage with some awesome looking redneck window dressing black trash bags covering the window openings . I put on the those oil filled electric heaters in the trailer with the foam stuff in there too to warm up both .
Tomorrow I'm headed out to get some a frame ladders and a plank from the old man so I can do the roof without much problems .
I get everything set up outside then when I'm ready pull the trailer out and get to it .
I try to get some pixs but this stuff is tricky so I'm hoping I don't pull a $325+ screw-up since if you stop for more then 30 secs while working you must change the gun nozzle ( they give you a few , but not many )
Nothing like a quick learning curve

its now a "can"-noli

Its been sprayed and not as bad as I thought. Being the lazy ass that I am , not cleaning up the dirt and dust off the floor and crap around the trailer keeps this stuff from sticking and a easier clean up :hillbilly:

Now here's some pixs

what do you guys think about this next step ?
I have some of the foil bubble wrap duct insulation stuff and the tyvek knock off .
I'm thinking of putting on both over the top .
Should I put the tyvek stuff on 1st and then the foil/bubble wrap? or the other way around?
The aluminum as the top coat .
whats your thoughts gents ?
I know its build tuff since I was crawling on the roof joists when spraying and also a little later on cleaning the over-spray and high spots .
If I want to add the A/C unit down the road its will handle with no problems and I pre-wired it already :bounce:

all Tyveked up and tomorrow is to be nice (sunny and almost 50degs, so much for winter ) so it will be removed from the garage. so I can clean up the mess I made with the trimming of the foam .
I think I'll see about cleaning up the old side metal where the screws were . so I can start putting them back on . Later down the road I will finish cleaning the open areas when there bolted on .

Pixs tomorrow

Got the garage back into a shape I can sort of work in .
Heres the pixs

at a cross road

I worked on the trailer and I was looking at the old skin . After 50 years of wear , many POs , additions ,holes bumps and bruises. I'm thinking it might be a good thing and replace it all as the old roof stuff was beyond repair from holes dents and other stuff . The sides looking like they just said "F" it and took what ever was left over from other trailers and put it together to finish it up with seams and screws all over .
I can get all new and do the whole trailer up in 3 pieces (the 2 sides and the front/roof/rear )
Id keep the oldskool door ,lights and jalousie glass windows

what do you guys think ?

Thanks
