Now how do I use it?
I had that same symptom when I fist bought my 60. Turned out timing was off.
That would make sense since it started out with a small amount of pinging, which got much worse. But......how does the timing change so dramatically?
Zack
Ya-you could get lucky here and just have a blown HG between 5 and 6. I would take those readings as good news, but you are going to have to pull the head.
1. Ignition timing
2. Carburetor issue or if fuel injected some sensor
3. Damaged molten CAT (Happened to me)

They mean the head has to come off and you need a head-gasket, and a valve job or at least the head surfaced and fluxed.
Is this on the engine in the truck or the new/used motor ?
The compression test was done on the engine in my truck. The new/used engine is already at the shop, I am just ordering some new parts and gaskets to replace on the new engine while it is out of the truck.
Would a bad head gasket cause it to smoke seemingly so much oil?
Also cyl 5 and 6 plugs were black and wet.
Thanks,
Zack
