Welcome!

Funny you say that. It seems I'm the only guy with a winch whenever we go out and it gets used more often than not, gettin my clownass friends out of pinches.

Well, that's a pretty big part of the reason we started this board. :)

I need the 80 for a daily driver that I can haul the whole family in. When I start the 45 it's gonna be a trail only rig. I'll be going for something similar to Jeremiah Proffit's Newt. Dual steering rockwells, dual t-cases, 44's and all the other pissed off goodies. Besides, I've got my 40 for wheelin right now so I'm not in a huge hurry. It'll be a couple of years worth of gathering parts before I'm ready to roll. Someday I'll get her there.

Garth. I live near Dallas, Texas, but am looking at a 1-6 month work detail to Phoenix beginning in April. I have a stock-like '77 FJ-40, a not-so-stock '77 40 with a bored-over 2F, H55, 4.56's, ARBS........and a '97 40th Anniv 80-series (yeah, in Sage with lockers). Trail rig and 80 will make the trip, if I come that way, and the wife, 3 kids and I will be looking to explore/wheel Arizona on the weekends!

Hi all, New to the board due to a recent purchase of a modified FZJ80 (looking for info). Been in AZ for a long-time and wheeled pretty much all over mostly with heeps. I look forward to hooking up with some new family wheeler in Land Cruisers. Located in the NE valley and love getting out. I’m also lucky enough to own a modified 40 & 60. My Cruisers are equipped to take my wife and 8yr old just about anywhere but I due take pride in my original paint.

Phil

Phil,

Post some specs on the Cruisers! The 80 isn't the black one off of Slee's sight, is it??

Hi everyone. Been around both this forum and LCML for a few years, but seems to be in bursts. I have a real strange work schedule and haven't been able to spend as much time on the boards, or with the cruiser, as I would like. I am also the guy that posted the article in the tech section about replacing the old points type voltage regulators with solid state ones.

I live in Tucson and have a 1968 FJ40 factory soft top. Mechanically it is still pretty much stock with the F engine and 3 speed. I did convert the column shifter for the tranny and the vacuum one for the t/c. I have also added bucket seats out of a Saab 900 (they are heated, but I have never hooked it up). I do have a hard top for it, but I took it off 1 week after I bought the cruiser and it has been a storage shed for my lawn mower since.

Future plans include a small block, probably a 305 to start with as I have a pristine one sitting on blocks and wouldn't have to spend any money on that part of it. I also have a 4 speed that will be going into it. I also plan on doing power steering when I do the engine. Disc brakes and a lift will follow all that.

Welcome!

rick d, tucson az, daily driver 1987 BJ74 (white, white top).

also have a 1981 FJ40 for a little while (red, but I think it is sold).

I wish had time to do a little of anything, kids-work-house have all my time right now.

Hey Rick. Still looking forward to seeing that BJ74 of yours. Still have that old top of mine being a shed for my lawn mower, but with all the recent rains, and my complete lack of time to do any work around the house, I have trouble seeing it through all the weeds. :-)

Great idea for this section!

Pasquale here, my home base for the last 3 years is Sedona. I travel for work in San Diego and Santa Cruz California so my time in Sedona is sporatic. Been a TLCA member for 10 years or so. I had the pleasure of owning 3 FJ's through out my life. Been working on my '78 FJ40 and it is almost ready for long trips:)

Looking forward to hooking up and discovering AZ trails!

Hi. I am John. I bought a non-operational FJ40 last year and got it running. But I've decided to try to restore it. It will take some time though, 'cause I don't have the bucks to do it all at once. I am no great mechanic, but I am willing to learn even if it means learning one thing at a time as I try to restore cruiser. I've always wanted an FJ40 since I was a kid. I hope to find you guys out on the trail someday. Take it easy!

John

Yo guys, I'm Dustin. I've been Cruising my 77 FJ55 for about 8 years. I live up in Cottonwood, but get down south often enough to go hit a few trails now and then. Would like to do a few more mods before I go hit Judgement Day again, but Martinez and Raw Deal were mostly a no-problem deal. I'd like to find a few more trails that are more use and less abuse, but I do want to challenge what AZ has before I start going out of state to wheel. Moab and the 'Con are on the list tho'. :cheers
Latre!~!

Nice rig!
And it looks like you have a healthy disregard for sheetmetal from that pic. :)

doh" i need to scan some of my pics dustin, specially that nice front on flex shot you took in judgement day.

HJ60, he got close but didnt hit :)

I plan to armor the hell out of my 60. But that's a long ways off at this
point. :(
I also want to get a running HJ-60 from Canada with a shot body so I can
transplant my body onto it and part out the rest of it.
Unless of course someone here knows how to legally re-power a vehicle in
AZ.
I really don't want to butcher two Cruisers if I can avoid it. But so far, this
looks like the best option. The worst part is I then plan to put a 12H-T in it
and sell the 2H.
Ideally I would just put the 12H-T in my current 60 and be done with it.

sell the 2H? you meant 2F right??
re-powers are very easy in this state, all you do after install is get it inspected and you will be issued an emission standard (displacement, year whatever)
i have done much of the leg work already in anticipation for my diesel re-power.

O.K. I went to the local LC meeting last Thursday. They are not affilliated with TLCA, I have no reason why. Mostly 80's with a few 60's, 55's & 40's. It was one of the largest meetings with 15 people, about half members. It is held at Scott Toyota off of McDowell in Scottsdale. Seems to be a decent group. My question is do we ignore this other group or try and bring the two together. ???
