I'll take a look again on the exhaust, nothing obvious found last year, but i'll recheck; the PO removed the cats

- BTW, during winter I had no issues at all.
- I did the HG before the SC install, no coolant loss noticed before/after
- I do get the "lean" P0171 code once in a while.
- Timing is the only thing I haven't checked in detail.

I would look into that code more, lean means hot I believe, something is amiss. I believe the computer needs the inputs from the cats to run properly. What are you running in leiu of the o2 sensors? I would make sure the computer is getting the signals it needs to be happy. You should be able to find some o2 simulators online to make the computer happy.

Both O2 sensors (brand new) remain in place, just without the cat in the middle.

Timing should have been the very first thing you addressed after the head gasket as the distributor was removed. After that would be O2 sensors, exhaust leaks an restrictions as that the cats are free flowing.

P0171 indicates the system is lean. This DOES NOT mean the engine is running lean. What it means is that the ECU has added enough fuel to correct the AFR to 14.7 that the Fuel trim values have exceeded a pre determined amount.

So you have a fueling issue for sure. Fuel pump, fuel filter, sock, fuel pump relay, clogged injectors, bad MAF sensor or wiring to it, that sort of stuff

Thanks, So I just changed Fuel Pump, Filter and sock 3 months ago.

I'll see if I can get the injectors in a good cleaning lab; and Im clueless how to diagnose the MAF; Ill dig info about it

I'm surprised that your not getting a code for the missing cat not cleaning up the exhaust. Difference between sensor #1 and #2?

Check all vacuum hoses as well as all clamps associated with air inlet and supercharger tubing, bypass valve assembly, all the way to intake manifold.you have not mentioned which fan you are running(ringed or other). A 170 thermostat may be helpful (it will give you more time before you reach said temps). A 14 inch electric fan can be shoehorned Behind grill in front of AC.
