Eleblanc-watching and waiting patiently, hoping for a great report on performance. Must say, looks awesome. Do they offer a 24v pump? Q: What would happen if you didn't use the cooler fins and pump, but rather just hooked up the IC and plumbed hoses to it? If the block temp was say, 180degrees, would that mean that intake air would cool to 180degrees?

i was told that some old diesel engine use the block water to cool the IC. But on diesel engine for genset they can use very large radiator. Not very common in automotive. I guess you could try but you could end up doing absolutely nothing to the intake air temperature. I wouldn't personnaly do this. And for maximum result you would need to plumb the IC from the radiator outlet, so that means to fabricate some T and even tho, water wouldn't really run throught the IC, unless you have ALL the coolant go throught the IC before going to the block and doing this you would need a very large pipe to allow the proper gpm (gallon per minute).

No pump 24V from frozenboost, but i'm sure if i look i could probably found one. And what i don't like about the bosch i received, the motor housing is not seal, thus not water tight. So i need to place it high. I am going to mount it on the air filter box side by welding a small bracket. But a better spot would have been on the right side battery tray support right next to the rad support, but low and it would have seen lots of water. I need to search amp rating of this pump since i will run it from my converter.

Some more step tonight toward ice age, euh freeing, ok ok, cooling.

Tomorrow i should get my hose and fitting to complete this. I also need to tap a plug in the IC.

The pump is mounted and wired. to my "on" ignition position 12V relay

And the rad is mounted.

I'm pretty done, i need 4 metric bolts to plug the hole on the IC that are there for support. Once IC is tight it does not move easily enough to justify a support, well that is what think.

Still need to bolt up the front. But everything is filled up. I thought the noise generate by the pump would be lower once there is water in in but not really. I haven't run it so i don't know if i will hear it while i drive. Will tell you tomorrow.

And i don't like the blue hose, i think it is inapropriate color in a engine bay of a 40. But will live with it for now, i may look for some braided hose.

you might want to put a protective cover over the hose where it bends around the metal...chaffing is not a good thing
looks like a nice install
is th epump noisier than the rattle of the 3B?!?!

i doubt but i will know for sure tonight! Does slip on braided SS exist?

you can get that cheap crap the ricers use but i would just run a larger ID hose, split lengthways, over the blue hose where if comes aroudn the sheet metal...

good old black hose looks the best. IMHO

So i went for a spin, definitely the EGT drop at least 100 deg F, more probably somewhere between 100 and 150.

I have time tonight or during the weekend i hook the M101 and go for a spin, but there are no long hill around here.

Hey Eric

Nice job !! Been watching this one and am quite impressed. That's a good clean install. U can probablly get some plastic paint for the hoses. Better yet, clean the engine bay and they'll match lol.

So yesterday i went for a other drive, this time longer on the highway. and i realize that my previous test was done with the front hub locked. So that does cause a resistance.

But before my second test i cranked the fuel 1/3 higher. So i went on the away and pushed the BJ up to 130 kph, and the most i went up on the EGT was between 850 and 900, before i would have been near 1000. Water Temperature never got over 195 deg F.

The real test will be next weekend when i drive up to the Yankee toy fall gathering with the M101 on the back and alot of mountains.

I just find out that Boasch does a 24V pump, So if anyone wants to do a similar install on a 24V rig, here is the pump you want. Looks much smaller. But pressure is .1 Bar instead of .3 Bar. Never got into calculating pressure requirement for my installation!

Cool, so you've taken a good 100F out of your EGT's? Hopefully the next test goes as well.

proper test would be disconeect teh intercooler, do a run. hook the intercooler back up and do the same run exactly the same on the same day.

amosheric conditions can account for some of the change in readings...

but all the same, that is cool...

Is it me or intercooler can make the whine quieter? i don't seems to hear it has much has before....

Going for the FG this weekend, the M101 is loaded like never before, so pretty anxious to see how it goes.

For the record, just notice i never reported after the Fall gathering, it is old info but could be usefull for some people. The 5 hours ride and back went perfect, never overheated with the m101 fully loaded. David BJ70 was with is stock Bj70 and stock 3B and going through the hills he simply couldn't follow and i would easily distance him through the appalache hills.
