In a van, down by the river
I have a pair of inner axles from a 85' SR5 pickup.
I was told these are the same as in a FJ40 axle.

Can anyone confirm this?

I had these as spares for my 84' 4runner, but since that is gone and my 40 is gone too., they are probably of no use to me.

Will they fit in a fj60? I think not...

So if I were to sell these, what would a fair price be?
I also have the hub spindles....all in good shape.

they are not the same.
Mini Axles are closer akin to 60 axles in length, though I don't think they're a direct swap part either.
The outers (birfs) will swap over with a little knuckle clearancing on the 40 axle, but the inners are too long.
If they're in good shape, the inners could sell for 30-60 bucks a pair. You can ask for more, but it would be a difficult sell.
Spindles could be sold for maybe 50-60 each, spindles AND hubs could be sold as a disc brake conversion to a 40 owner for 150-ish.
Again, this is all depending on who's willing to pay what.
good luck!

There is an axle shaft shared with an LC, but I don't remember which. There was a FAQ in the Tech Links that talked about it, but the last I looked it was gone.

I think the short one might be the same.
IIRC when the 60 Debuted, the extra length was added on the long side.

Maybe I should rebuild my 60 front and compare??? It's due.

Hey, appreciate the input everyone. Thanks

That's an idea.
If you do, post up pics, and we can FAQ this.

The long side out of a 60 will slide right the mini truck however the short side out of the 60 is to short for the mini because the mini diff is more centered compared to the 60.

Think I said that correctly?

I don't think you did... You're saying that a 60 axle is narower than a mini... Which is not true...

60 series long and mini long are the same. 40 series short and 60 series short are the same. Mini short is its own animal. 40 series long is its own piece also.

Okay, that makes alot of sense.
We have an answer.

I remember before I went to 30 spline I took one side out of the 62 when I stripped it and put the birf and inner axle in the Runner, I just dont remember which side now? I was thinking the short side(of the 62) was to short for the mini because the mini diff wasnt offset like the 62 diff is, lol, hell I dont remember yesterday.

Ok, so the FJ60 is the universal donor.
