Yep, check out the "notched 60" thread. It's a sleeve that extends the long side of the 40 axle to make it a 60 width axle. A pretty sweet deal if your going to outboard the springs and do a C&T.

I will look that up, that's a neat idea.
Shoot, I wouldn't mind a couple extra inches of axle width on a stock first-gen axle. Better stability at speeds.
