So I've been curious about these plastic cans and water. Can you taste the plastic/BPA/whatever it is?
Yeah it gives the water a funky taste. I only use containers like this for non drinking water - I usually carry a bunch of water bottles for that.

Those are the Sceptre cans. $$$ No plastic taste that I've experienced.
Interesting. I haven’t actually used this can yet so I will report back if it has any plastic taste. I’m not sure if this is authentic sceptre - got it on amazon for $40

Yeah, real Sceptres don't have much of a taste really. Of course, I have pretty terrible city water here in Austin so that is my baseline. I still carry my potable water in a Reliance 7 gallon container I got from REI. BPA Free and cheap.

SAS kit! should only take an hour or two

Ha! ^that was awesome

More mods! You must have a VERY understanding & supportive wife.

Did you remove the AHC accumulators when you swapped over to traditional suspension?

Wondering if you went with the Slee AHC Step sliders (2 arms) or high clearance (3 arms).

I've been giving my grab handles a workout getting in and out without running boards (lift+tires). I'm sure you're giving it a pretty good leg lift with those beefy 34's.

I drink from my Scepter water cans quite a bit...I might have noticed a little plastic taste at the very first, but not since then.

And for future reference, this is the place to buy them--free shipping if you buy enough. ;) You are being redirected...

Ha. We've got a system figured out. But I am very lucky.

I did remove everything from the AHC system. Went with the high clearance. Steps seem more practical but at this rate I'll probably just have to get another car for a daily and then who cares.. haha

Good price, bookmarking that site

Wow, you are still daily driving this cruiser? That is dedication to the cause! Ha ha especially with about 12 MPG city ;)

yup. Luckily I only need to drive about 60 miles per week. And my other car is set up for the track with no a/c, no heater, no stereo system, etc. I’m trying to convince my wife that 4 cars isn’t excessive.. haha

Its the norm here in Cally to have that many...I alternate my 100 and 62.

For 60 miles a week I can certainly understand daily driving the built 100. Ha ha I have a Miata built to drive on track and I certainly understand how after driving that any vehicle feels like a luxury ride.

My girlfriend and I have 5 cars at the moment so 4 definitely doesn't sound like too many to me! Just use the starting point for the conversation with you wife, "At least it isn't 5 cars..." :D

I DD 45 miles daily in my LX. Love the rig so much that I sold my 2016 Outback 3.6r Limited. Want to someday purchase a BRZ or late model Miata for a sporty DD. But, I just can't NOT drive my LX :)

Got the Slee sliders installed today:

Easy enough to do by yourself, just need some jackstands and a jack.

Ran into a couple minor problems - had to cut off an AHC stud and bend an AHC bracket out of the way. The bolt was rounded off and impossible to reach, so I just had to leave it.

I realize now that maybe I should have talked to Slee and asked if the LC non AHC sliders would have any problem fitting on an LX. The feet mounted just fine since my AHC is gone, but LXs have the body cladding/body trim around the rockers. Seems to add about a half inch of material:

I was able to get the sliders to fit but they're touching the trim up front. That's just plastic, and it's hollow underneath, so I'm hoping it won't rattle or anything. I took it on a quick test drive and didn't hear anything. I could have dremeled some clearance I guess, but then I'd have a hole for water and debris to get into and stay there.. we'll see how this goes. Should be fine

Other than that, the fitment and build quality is amazing. I'm always impressed by Slee stuff.

Lucky! I want to get a 70 series next.

Yeah either would be way fun. I had a BRZ a while ago, then sold it cause it wasn't fast enough, then bought a WRX - and now I kinda miss the BRZ again. Super fun car. Just can't expect it to be a drag racer. Though they seem easy enough to turbo

Couple of things,

1. For purely esthetic reasons alone I like the high clearance slider choice you made - very stealth looking and keeps the height

2. Those are cool jack stands - seem to allow way more room to get yourself under there to wrench vs the traditional 4 legged base stand

3. To provide you with peace of mind that you made the right decision on slider choice (TLC vs AHC) I've attached 2 pics of another members rig I had the opportunity to see and drive. He has AHC and therefore the AHC sliders. Note your area of cladding protrusion concern - exact same results as yours.

As always, you make quick work of your installs.

The local shop that made mine, terminated the step hoops a tad shorter than Slee's, just for ref on the cladding interference. Your's look great.

Yeah I like how low profile they are. And that cruiser looks awesome, thanks for sharing!

Ah perfect. Yeah I was thinking that if the whole hoop was just moved an inch back it would work.

Installed Trail Tailor recovery points with the ARB spacers. Used 10.9 grade 14x1.5 - 60mm bolts from Bolt Depot.

Got to work on the new suspension setup. Was immediately amazed at the difference in travel..

GO0qHJM.jpg

And then realized I had opened the rears first. haha. This makes more sense for the front

This is the Stage 1 Slinky kit from 4xOverland / Endless Horizon Outfitters. Came with shocks, rear springs, torsion bars, a diff drop and a few accessories like rock guards and torsion bar/a arm strengthening brackets. It's a very cool setup

VF3QtFM.jpg

Didn't have any wrenches thin enough to fit in the slot under the bushings, so I had to break out my comically large wrench to hold the shock as I tightened the top nut.

Gotta say I really appreciate @2001LC 's posts on this forum. I feel like every time I have a question I end up on one of his threads or reading his reply to someone else. That's how I found the torque specs for the shock nuts - easier than looking it up in the FSM. ha.

ly43AE1.jpg

According to my measurements, these new shocks gave me about .5" more travel. Strange that I get excited about that, but that's 100s for ya. I cranked the t bars up - almost felt too high but measured in at 22.5". I'll get a final adjustment and alignment after I add a winch this week. It'll also be higher in the back once I get to the rear springs and shocks tomorrow.

back to your recovery points...did your bumper come with those arb spacers? I don't think mine did. I'm literally looking to do the same setup on my 03 arb bumper.

Jason at Trail Tailor sells them. He makes them I believe.

Yeah both the recovery points and the spacers are from Trail Tailor. You need them for your shackles to clear the box around the bolts on the arb.
