Rick, the vin plate was moved to the right inner lower fender in 66, 67, I know you replaced it but you should see 4 holes on the old inner fender. Rigs looking good, i got you on the registry.

Rick
Nice job on the softail-bagger I would not have picked its a softy from the photo. If the FJ comes up half as good you be on a winner to get your investment back + some.

Thanks ozcruiser. Harleys are a soft market right now in the US and I could only get about half of what I spent on it right now, so the trade did make sense at the time. You are in the part of the world where FJ45s are reasonably priced and I am jealous. I have been looking at some 45s for sale in Australia and I may just have to take a trip over there once I get back to Thailand. It is extremely difficult to import cars into Thailand, but I can always send it to the US.

There are a heap being restored downunder as we all try and get our youth back and party like the old days. There very common downunder and worth nothing compared to what you guys pay in the US. The good clean examples are getting snapped up fast pushing the oz price up to meet the market.

Don't want to be a troll, but why is the price and value discussion still constantly in a tech tread ? Seems like an obsession.

Maybe Suzy Orman now also wants a Fj40/45 and can advice us in this matter.

IMHO Mud members always loved their trucks and rather prefer to take it with them to their graves then selling it.

In the worst case the madness would go on to our kids. That's how we keep the market value automatically high !

...Because everyone puts a value on everything, No matter what it is and Cruisers are no different. People come on here for different reasons, some to gain knowledge, some to impart knowledge, some to buy stuff, some to sell. That's how this whole thing works.

Told us what, exactly? He's flipping it, big deal. Hopefully someone who intends to finally do what needs to be done to keep this rare truck alive will buy it and bring it back to the condition it deserves.
Coming on an flame spraying with a low post count doesn't really go over well here. Again so what if he used the forum to get some advertising for a truck he is splash and dashing. Through this thread, we have learned the history of the truck and know that unless on of the POs cut out the rusted steel on the bed and replace with solid metal that it is likely filled in with about 2 gallons of bondo... not to mention the swiss cheese rocker panels.

I wondered where that truck ended up! Looks a heck of a lot better now than a few months ago! GLWS!

Auction still has days to go so no way to know where it will end up. Plus reserve not met so it could go nowhere from this auction. If you researched the history of this truck you know it came from the Midwest and has plenty of rust. Repainting it has done any to the rust hidden underneath. One reason I'll pay more for original paint even if it's in poor shape over fresh new paint. Diamond plating is also a red flag.
