I found this in my sand blasting cabinet so I went ahead and put it in the tank.. then threw some paint on it… does anyone have an idea what this is?

Somebody lost a bet!

At the Rising Sun Rally in 2005, I saw one on a table at a seller’s booth. I asked him how much? He said $5…IF I could tell him what it came out of. I told him that it came out of an FJ55. He was genuinely surprised, and handed it to me. Then I told him who I was!

Jack holder for FJ45 and FJ55.

Interesting. I don't see that style for an FJ55 in any of the part's diagrams. So what year(s)? Everything I have looked at from 69 to 80 looks more or less my '77; which doesn't look like that. Of course what is depicted in a parts diagram isn't necessarily reality.

Ahhh “you cheated … you used your brain” :)

A quote from a student 20 years ago who was mad because another student had photographic memory

Now if we could just remember what we wanted to get 5 seconds earlier :meh:

Here’s the parts diagram:

My photographic memory lead to some interesting incidents in law school.😉

Cool. Parts diagram from what? 45 or 55 or both? Again, just curious. Thanks.

Greg, much of my ‘database’ is inferential, being as I have accumulated parts from over a thousand rigs, and probably worked on that many more for customers. My first pig was a ‘73 with a crushed roof, and it had one. So that’s where my dataset started.

Both FJ55 (03/69 to 09/73) and FJ45 (06/76 to 01/79)
The pics were taken from my Toyota microfiche set dated Jan '81 for the FJ40 series, BJ40, and FJ55 for the period from 03/69 to 07/80 in the US and Canadian markets

My 9/64 FJ45LP has one now. Earlier pickups had the storage box under the seat. When that changed this clamp style secured the jack that was no longer in an enclosed area. While originally my 45 didn't have one when I bought it thirty years ago the floor did had the three holes to mount one. I have a parts literature that supplements the parts that were different from the FJ40 in 1965 models. Might check to see if it is listed.

I had no question they came with one if you said they did Mark! I just couldn't find it. @timmyisinthewell thanks. I see it clearly now that I know which diagram to look at.

Was that Jeff Zepp? I think I actually heard that story.

No. I actually stayed at Jeff’s house on that trip. The guy with the jack holder was named Terry. I think he was making Tshirts for the club at the time.

@65swb45 I think it was Jeff who told me that story, so that makes sense. 🤣
So he told you about the FJ40 bezel on the UHaul truck?

I don't recall that. But another guy and I at Rising Sun were talking about something: I can't recall what. Jeff said be careful what you put out there because someone could always know what some random thing is. I remember thinking it was hilarious.

In 05 I drove a U Haul from Madison Wisconsin across country, buying Landcruiser parts. By the time I got to Jeff’s house with the U-Haul I had among other things 22 front axles and half a dozen transmission/tfr combos.

Jeff showed me the LWB 45 that he had in the garage, and I spontaneously had this crazy idea of taking the bezel off the 45 and zipetieing it to the grill of the rental.

Jeff was not amused!

I was very persistent, and he eventually relented. To my surprise and amazement someone at the Rally ran after me as I pulled in, and came up to the U-Haul as soon as I parked and asked me to sell the bezel! It was a nice bezel, but it wasn’t perfect. More importantly, it wasn’t mine to sell!

I went and told Jeff, and he was pissed. I think he even dropped the F bomb on me. I told him that I had a better bezel at my shop, and that if he let me sell his, I would mail him a nicer replacement. When he got done being angry he agreed, and I sold his bezel.

He made a point of calling me when he got the replacement and acknowledging that it was nicer than the one he had.😉
