Today I started moving stuff around so I can start installing the first beam across the wall over my framed walls. When I came to the window I decided the safest place for it was installed. So I did! It’s difficult to see the window in the picture but X marks the spot😉 After that I started working on the beam. Sorry no pictures of the beam, I forgot to take a picture 🤷🏻‍♂️

I took this picture yesterday morning before leaving town. It’s not a great picture 🤷🏻‍♂️

It has been a very busy weekend. I only had about 4 hours of work time in the shop today. But I did get the beam finished.

After work this evening I built beam #2. It’s 19’ 4” long.

@Michael B are you gluing these together As well?

I was going to start hanging joists this weekend. But when I went to HD Saturday morning the price of the 2”x10”x10’ had changed by $5.00 a board since Wednesday. So I have to wait until the lumber yards open on Monday for that purchase. So I spent this afternoon getting ready to hang the joists.

Very nice to see progress…. Is that the drive-thru window?

In stead of hanging more joists last night I took Samson to the club meeting.

Back to our regularly scheduled program. I finished installing all of the joists over the room. That brings the total to 15 now, or about half. Then I built the tripled 2”x12”x19’9” beam. That thing is going to be a beast to hang! It weighs approximately 500lbs. After that I cut and installed the two 6x6 posts to support the beam. Tomorrow I will tackle the beam installation. As you can see the beam passed inspection 😉

That pile of wood sitting under the new beam is in the way of hanging more joists. I’m going to move it one more time 😉
