Any chance of being able to share the drawing on Google? I'm too lazy to check into it, but it would be great if we could start a drawing Wiki.

I'm going to have 2BadFJs make me a pair that are as much running boards as sliders: nice to have a step for the wif & gkids. They'll have 1/8" diamond plate aluminum riveted on top to match the plates on my bumpers.

Sure Tinker,

give me your e-mail address in a PM, and I'll send it to you. You'll need to Download sketch-up, if you haven't already.

On the doubler plates, it isn't a great idea to have a weld seam running vertical up the frame rail. It's done a lot and it works for while, but with enough time under load it will crack the frame along side the vertical bead. Diamond shaped, or "Fishmouthed" (notched) or even just a simple diagonal will let the frame rail live a lot longer. Alternately, don't weld the verticals. Double alternately, poke a large hole in the middle of the plate with a holesaw and weld there, but not the vertical sides of the plate. Then weld on the slider supports.

True, true.

The frame mounting plates i had cut look just like the ones in the image above. It was a good compromise, the welds won't be vertical and the load should be spread pretty well

$10 a peice to buy them and have them cut out of 1/4".

Update,

I have all the outriggers cut and ready to weld. I fit one side up to the truck with C Clamps, and everything is straight after a few adjustments.

These were a bi*ch to cut with a cutting wheel and angle grinder. If i had a plasma cutter it would have been about five minutes!

I will be back in the shop probably early 2009! Cheers!

NICE did mine out the same stuff holds up real well

Well they are on, and they came out really nice. Heres some progress photos.

heres the welds on the frame. I was nervous about these connections but the welds came out fine, not my best work but considering they were done inverted and on my back, I'm pretty happy and they aren't going anywhere!
