Yes, 3 sets of 16ga sides and one set of special request 14ga.:)

Great work Kevin!
A video on youtube would be awesome - especially if you were punching out the 45 pieces! :)

Can I assume that once the programs for the individual pieces are set, all you need to do is feed the machine?

yes, thats right. Only drawback is if your program is wrong you can make a lot of scrap real quick.

Added the dimples this morning. These are on each side of each hook on the sides of the bed. The rear most hook only has one forward of the hook and the front hook has a smaller one ahead of the hook to clear the headache rack mounting bolts better.

This is how I made the dimples, a single station 30 ton manual punch.

Kevin, you may have already discussed this but those dimples are not on my early (1964) 3-hinge long bed. It is just smooth metal besides the hooks.

A closer look at the tool. This machine uses the same type of tools as the turret punch, just one at a time rather than 26. Normally it would punch right through the material but I didn't want a hole. I shortened the punch and used an oversized die to get the desired dimples (the machine has a fixed stroke). I can buy a tool for the turret that will do this but thats $500 I can spend on my 45, so I did it manually using tools I have on hand.

Excellent info mike. I've been gathering details on the production whims of Toyota over the years in my other thread, I'll add this as well.

Quality work Kevin, now I am really bummed I sold the LWB.

Are the bed floor supports the same for a SWB?

Don't know - never seen one. Probly not much different though. I'm gonna have to go to a gathering with a tape measure, calipers and a notepad :grinpimp:.

Kevin, I have mint bed sides, tailgate, but no floor or back panel. I had a flat bed with the sides removable. So now I am building a stock truck and would love to have a factory looking bed floor.Hopefully you will be doing the floor as well. I will definately be interested in the bed supports and back panel so put me down for a set of supports and the back panel. Again very nice work, this will make a lot of 45 lwb owners happy...Whitey

When I get all the parts done to my satisfaction I will start a new thread, likely in the 45 classified section, with photo's of each and every piece in the bed as well as popular sub assemblies and a fully assembled bed. The prices (relax, I don't have them yet) will be with each photo and any options will be explained fully including the differences through the model years. I expect this to happen in the next three weeks to a month.

In the meantime, everyone please keep posting comments and observations. I particularly like the "great job" and "nice work" posts ;). Oh, and if you have info on manufacturing details specific to a certain year(s) Please post up in the "help me make" thread. Still looking for a pic of the front corner floor of an early model.

OK Kevin,

'Great Job!' and 'Nice Work!' Now, don't let this slow you down on your FJ45 re-build...:D

It is amazing what a lot of skill AND really cool machines can make. How are you going to make the external arches for the wheel wells?

Cheers,

Josh

Awesome links Jason, thanks. Got the picture I needed
