I am making LC Scale Kits & Accessories for mud! (1 Viewer)

Last update for today, I started on Voron Trident 350mmx350mm this week (250 height).

This is another big project as you are building a printer from scratch, but when done this baby might be able to put out a good quality kit in a week. They could pay for themselves after making only 2-4 kits and in only 1 month! ($1000 per printer). And that’s pricing the kits very modestly, I think? It’s very low material cost ($50-75) per kit but high print time; which can be significantly improved. I can honestly see me giving you guys these kits for $150 shipped down the road, if you want additional for your family and friends/backups for yourself; Without electronics. I can bundle in electronics and have the 3Dsets recommended electronics/ready to run for $100 more (covers tires, shocks, bearings, esc, motor, belts and etc), and add $25-50 for assembly because 500 fasteners is no joke.

Anyways, I try not to get ahead of myself but at the same time I could use some help on pricing these kits for outside of Mud down the road; or maybe someone here can resell them for me. I’ll get to that later after they are ready.

Beta testers, how do you guys feel about receiving these kits in parts and building it alongside mine? I can send off chassis and first part of Body this week, which covers the first chunk of manual. @CruiserTrash @Hiluxforever @mrboatman @Michael B @The Jade Bean did I miss anyone?

If you want to go this route, I highly recommend you order a set of fasteners for your kit. Go on AliExpress and search “Bamboo fasteners”, and you’ll see models 9, 10 and 12 for $6-8 and 8 shipping. These are cheap screws but it’s the quickest way to get started; I tried sourcing screws elsewhere so I could Frankenstein my own kit together, but it was very expensive and hell. Get the cheap ones and already assembled as a kit to get you going fast, and upgrade to stronger screws later where needed.

Model 9/soft top fasteners

US $6.50 3% Off | Screws and Nuts Model 9 Bamboo Required Hardware 3DSets RC Car

Model 10/ Hard top fasteners

US $7.08 3% Off | 3DSets Bamboo Fasteners Screws and Nuts for Model 10 Bamboo 4x4 - Hardtop 3DSets RC Car Required Hardware

Model 12 / Pickup Fasteners

US $7.50 | Screws and Nuts Model 12 Bamboo4X4 pickup Required Hardware 3DSets RC Car

When I have some cash I will put in a bulk order, as they can cover all electronics as well. For now, you guys have the option of picking up your own parts from them for the prices below - ship from China is 30 days and not included, you can pay more for 10 days.

This way I can get feedback sooner and make any needed changes before listing them on my site and on ebay.

Also, is there anyone here who wants to get on my beta list, or who isn’t sure if they are already on? If you see your name on a printer, I am making a kit with your name on it. If you don’t, let me know as I have a few slots available.

Only thing I ask is for your honest opinion when you get the time, for Beta testers.

And last thing, I need preferred models again from everyone.

Who are my 45s and who are my soft top and hard top 40s?

Extra parts will come later, but for now let’s limit to 1 per tester until first sets are completely done.

For beta testers who want to receive their kits in parts and build along with me, I have chassis options in PLA+ Green (4) and in Carbon Fiber PLA (6). I used a brim because that’s a lot of little parts that can get lost and mixed up, so the brim keeps everything together.

Oh and there is 1 more update, big girl got a few more parts.

Let me formally fill you guys in on Big Girl; a prototype 1:4 scale project (because electronics for 1:4 is not easy to find), that I’m hoping will be a very capable RC Trail Lead vehicle. Goal is to use this thing to carve a new trail, if needed, for the little ones

Also, it will be very easy for me to show you guys how to assemble your 1:8 with Big Girl over here.

Yeah… never thought I’d see something that makes a 1:8 look small but she’s coming boys!!

I’m going to work on tracking my progress and add these trackers to original post. This is mainly to help me because I get distracted easily.

For reference, non printed parts include: bearings, fasteners, shocks, belts, tires, motor, esc, RC controller.

Milestone trackers:
1: 1 full set soft top FJ40, with upgrades to hard top and 45.
- assigned to Genius Pro and X2 on desk.

- printed parts 40 soft done
- waiting on non printed part
- need to print hard top and pickup parts

2: 10 full sets for Mud Beta Testers - 5 45s?
- assigned to Quinly Sidewinder Fleet

- 6/36 build plates done - need to setup for automation after tuning
- raise $1000 for electronics and non printable parts

3: 1:4 scale trail lead/camera car
Assigned to 3mm Zonestar Z9 and Geeetech A30T (needs 3mm conversion).

- need to research electronics
- 3D print custom motor?
- started on chassis and body

4: scale to other sizes, including 1:10 and 1:16
Fix Vyper, Mega Pro, Hornet and Mizar and assign to those.

- have began brainstorming, I imagine electronics fitment will be biggest challenge when scaling

5: lawn mower body
Waiting on bigger build volumes for assignment.

- remote controlled lawn mower?
- repurpose the electric mower into an autonomous lawn-mowing 40 series?
- maybe a Roomba body?

I will share more color options for Bodies today, for those building along, pick one! @Hiluxforever metallic flourescent green for you then?

Those who are waiting for fully assembled, I am ordering what I can afford today. If you want to lump with my order, just Venmo or Zelle me the amount for your portion and leave a note on which parts. If you have no parts currently, then a full set including controllers is about $100.

First list is what I can afford to order today, second list is everything we need for ready to run.

I’ll wait til tomorrow on order to see if anyone wants to chip in and get this done in one order instead of me going back for the rest later.

I have more than 1 roll of everything but black, so even if a color is claimed you can still choose it. These colors I plan on keeping in my lineup for good.

1. @Hiluxforever - 45 series - carbon fiber chassis - metallic flourescent green body/Solid choice

2. @The Jade Bean - 45 series - carbon fiber chassis - need color

3. @Michael B - 45 series - need chasis and color

4. @mrboatman

5. @CruiserTrash

I also need to know if anyone already has their own controller and etc, so I can plan and ship out kits accordingly.

Here is the green, bronze, gold, silver and copper.

And yes I made a total of 6 full chassis in carbon fiber @jade, still a few available. So far I have 5 beta testers but plan on making 10 for mud (for the ones joining the party late).

Let’s just say I have a lot of boxes with muds name on it, and I’ve been slowly adding parts to them.

Even if I don’t have it already made, the good thing about 3D printing is I can just make another if I don’t have.

Thankfully oil prices did not affect plastic filament so we are golden on the materials cost front.

White black pink.

This is only for Artillery Silk/Metallic colors. I have a lineup of Geetech metallic colors as well (later batch).

I will try to get this Venmo'd to you tonight.

No worries if you don't boss, i have enough to cover the parts i showed in first photo if fasteners is all you need. Remember i plan on doing this slowly in a way that won't cost my testers anything, but donations towards the missing parts/using your own parts will help speed things along; not mandatory but much appreciated.

Also, i decided to rerun the prints in photos from earlier; i messed up placement of the seam and the top surface quality is affected. I normally hide the seam for that part in the bottom, where it is not visible after installation. Still tuning minor details/working on optimization. Use those photos for color reference, but don't stress the little details. Those are more "basher" parts where you won't feel bad for scratching and breaking.

Unless you have Spring Green i
Keen on the Blue plz sir.

I have controller for my other RC, can I use it for others?

Yes sir! That's the most key part too as it is the most expensive and can vary so much. The one i plan on including is priced at $55 and is half the costs of all non printable parts.

All you do is take this little thing (top of photo) and swap it to the FJ40, then insert the pins into the right channels (forward, reverse etc). I will provide instructions for the swap/it takes 1 minute.

@The Jade Bean tagging because edit:

I have the teal looking green and the flourescent green in metallic, and i have chromakey (green screen) green in PLA + (Same as chassis photos earlier). I will show you some pictures after more parts come out. We are super close to a quality i am happy with!

Much appreciated boss.

Remember i ordered for you guys:

So i just need help with the things you need that are not on that list.

For example, if 45 then i will need different fasteners kit.

If you want to help speed things along on a Ready-To-Run model, then i could use help paying for the remaining missing pieces (ESC, Servos, Radio/Remote Controller). If you have your own electronics, i can show you how to install or swap; im sure you already know XD.

Also, everyone, you can choose SHOCKS colors!! Blue because KINGS? I also like green so idk. Maybe get 1 of each color for original fleet?

Any preferences? Also, we haven't talked about rim colors and options as i need more time to gather the community designs as well.

I’d like matching shocks to body and I prefer black rims personally.
