Or that there is Two Tie rods on the PS taking the abuse of one on the DS.

not in my case .. but it's 226% valid point ..

I copied woodys mounting setup for mine and it turned out mint 4x4labs arms

I had to de stroke the 8" ram one inch by adding a spacer right on the shaft but works awesome and will never get hit

Mounted to the u-bolt plate? Not sure if I would do that...

I ordered a cylinder today. I really need to stop spending money..

How did you make/install that space on the ram? Maybe I will see it when my ram comes in on Friday.

I wouldnt trust any "clamp on" mount. Cmon whats the difference between loosening 4 ubolt nuts or ONE ram bolt and spin the rod without removing an end. I dont see any added conveinence, only potential for a broken off ram mount pokin the oil pan.

heres a TG assist ram installed under for oil pan clearance. It was used with an orbital for full hydro, but it still fits you needs too.
I put a skidder under it for super bashin.

The nice thing about a clamp mount is that you get a finer adjustment than only 1 turn increments and with bigger tires I saw smaller adjustments make a difference, at least that's been my experience. On a wheeler it's probably not a big deal but it helps on a DD when trying to get it to track just right. I would think the potential exists for a welded on mount to come off as well, just depends on how good the welds are or how good of hardware used on a clamp mount. I've never had any problem or even a movement with my revised clamp (the ubolt clamp mount was crap which is why I revised it and don't suggest using it) and I like how it spreads out the load. I do like your ram placement and the accessibility looks great. How does the TG ram (I've got the same one) do for full hydro?

I wouldn't build it any other way than with a clamp.

My clamp hasn't budged, and adjustment is easy.

Does the ram hit the spring?

I got my box tapped yesterday. Now all I have to do is mount the ram and get some hoses made. :)

my hoses are from the local farm store...standard hydraulic stuff in standard lengths...makes replacement easy to find :)

Hmm. I haven't noticed if Tractor Supply has hoses. I think I'm going to mount my ram with the fittings pointed toward the front to give more clearance between it and the oil pan. So one side of my hoses will have 90º fittings and the other ends will be straight.

Have you ever had to replace them? I've had the same power steering hose for 10 years without a problem...

Does a ram assist increase the temperature of the power steering fluid considerably?

No, the added volume actually assists in keeping the system cool. However, with ram assist you are typicaly beating on your steering anyway, so the benefit is not as obvious.

Oil only heats up in the pump..

good question .. and looking for more comments about this topic here ..

IMOP not .. and thought in teory not coz you are sharing the effort between the box and the piston ..
