Pop out the little clips that hold them to the sheet metal, unplug them from the tail light assemblies on both sides (remove the three-screw access plates on both sides to gain access), tuck them out of the way, and make sure you don't cut through them with the angle grinder!
Got it! Now did you guys remove your key locks? How do you pop it off? I pulled the silver bracket and wire off and can’t figure out the rest

I think I got the little plastic clip with the wires attached to it off the lock body and left everything else in place. Unless you've got one of the ones they warn about (bracket mounted), it shouldn't be in the way--you'll need to trim your acoustic pad around it anyway.

Thank you all for the help. Got it finished last night just before midnight in a brisk 32 degrees. Probably would have been faster if it wouldnt have been so cold, paint took a while to dry, and had to warm up my hands a couple times.

NOTES FOR OTHERS LOOKING AT INSTALL: 2-4 hours is probably about the right time frame, though a big chunk of that will letting paint dry and will depend how smooth you want to grind the burs down on the sheet metal. Its probably obvious but you have to remove the access panels and unplug the wires from the rear brake light housing to disconnect everything and put away from the cutting areas. You do not have to be very exact when cutting since it all gets covered up anything, Except if you want to keep the center support bar you have to be a bit precise at that spot with the template and cutting. I ended cutting along and into it and decided to remove brace piece though I didn't cut the sheet metal top, I figure it gives at some minimal support. You can feel the support piece with your fingers through the holes to figure out where its at.

I don't know what the old latches were like but these new ones are awesome and slick. I don't know if I'll ever use the locking feature but its sweet.

Question for people who have installed this latest one. Does your plastic tailgate hinge cover catch on the latches when closing? I have to use one hand to help the trim piece over the latches when closing, not a big deal but a little annoying and I probably dont want butcher the trim piece to help it slide over.

Yes, the plastic thingmo catches on the latches if you leave it as-is. My Huracan kit came with four or so self-adhesive little furniture-slider-looking thingmos—just stick several to the bottom of your plastic tailgate gap-hider and Bob’s your uncle.

O man! Is that what those are for? That's great. I couldn't figure it out, I really didnt want to cut it or anything, and my wife was annoyed you had to use two hands to close it. I have to say I'm definitely thinking harder about splitting it into two panels. Used it this weekend and had put some extra paper towels on the left side but was too far along into cooking some chili and couldn't get to it.

Hey guys, started installing mine and ran into an issue with the key lock barrel. Does anyone have a picture of the right/wrong barrel mount that they talk about in the instructions? They reference pictures on their site in the instructions but there are no pictures that show what the locks look like.

If your mounts to a bracket inside the tailgate it will need to be removed to install this tailgate. You have three options in this case. 1: Make up a custom bracket to support the barrel, 2: Find a spare key barrel from the wreckers similar to the one pictured in the last photo, or 3: Remove the barrel altogether and fit the hole with a grommet that we supply.

I can't tell if my lock is the bracket mounted kind of not - this is what it looks like. Do I just leave it in? Not sure how it would interfere with the install.

I just ignored the instructions and left mine in, I don’t see what the issue is. Mine looks like yours and I just put some foam around to protect and kept the wires out of the way.

Yeah, I think you and @ShenValley100LC and I all have the same one, which apparently works just fine, which makes me suspect it’s the “non bracket” flavor—it made me crazy that they had no decipherable pics.
I think in the bracket version the barrel is actually mounted to some kind of metal thingmo that stands out from the tailgate surface itself....

Thanks! Just finished up, works fine with the lock in.

FYI they are running a sale on their tailgate storage systems right now. I just ordered one for $276 shipped.

The tailgate storage system weights 20lbs, can you weight the metal you cut out of your 100 to see how much the metal you cut out weights?

seems high, is that the weight of the whole package or just tailgate storage system?

I emailed Huracan that I forgot to weigh it before I installed it so I can keep track of the weight I add to my AHC and they replied it add's 9kg to the car (not including the metal you cut out when you install it).

I have come to report back on what I've decided to put in the Tailgate Storage:
- extra paper towel roll
- extra garbage bags
- extra ziploc bags
- wet wipes
- headlamp
- 2x collapsible sinks
- 2x collapsible dog bowls for food and water
- ziploc bag of dog food
- tree saver and a D-links
- soft shackles
- battery bluetooth speaker

There's still room for a couple more small items. But, these are all very light items, very accessible, and a good use of the the space. I've not had any issue with the tailgate slamming down.

@ShenValley100LC I installed mine last night and have the same issue .The furniture sliders they include are borderline comical. I'll think about what I can install under the flapper that is more of a permanent solution to gain clearance for the locks.

Other than that, I really like the kit. Shipped really fast from Texas and all the holes lined up perfectly.

As you can see in the 2nd photo. i kept those spring bars or whatever. Wondering if this helps with raising and lowering it? I have all my recovery gear in there and doesnt seem to be heavy at all.

I'm also planning on extending the tail light harness so I can run them up and out of the way completely. right now i dont have enough line to do that so they are still kind of in the way.

yeah, its like there is rlly no place for you to put them because either they dont fit or theres no material to stick them to.

Slick idea on keeping the springs! I had cut them off and now mine drops like a load of bricks! I am also liking the new latches, it's good to see them improving their product. Right side latch on mine catches on the lock barrel all the time unfortunately - so much so that it has broken off the plastic connector top :(

I still love mine. I am going to take it off and cover in seadeck or a surfboard/paddleboard stomp pad covering eventually to cushion the seat and keep it a little cooler.

Agreed, those furniture sliders are a joke, but they did give me an idea... I used the furniture leg felt pads cut in strips. Works pretty well so far. Although I might just get rid of the plastic cover altogether if they ever fall off.

Good thinking on keeping the springs - in retrospect I wish I had kept mine too.
