90980-11503 - this was the tricky one!
This is THE connector to make a harness adapter for an aftermarket stereo.
The tricky part was that my local parts guy could not get this part # to pull up in his system. It came up as an invalid part #.
I really thought this was the connector, so I kept trying. I searched the part # and found a Toyota dealer in Florida offering it for sale, so I ordered it, and it showed up!
I mentioned this to my local parts guy and when I said "Florida", he said "Oh... SET!" then he told me how Toyota dealers in the South East region are special because back in the 50s, they banded together and gave Toyota some $ when they were in danger of going under. Ever since then they have been "special". I guess they get access to certian options before the rest of the US. He did not think to check with a SET dealer for this part #.
So if you want a 90980-11503, you probably have to get it from a SET dealer.

I tried this when it came in, it plugs right into the harness.

Gulf States Toyota was/is the group, wish I took notes when I heard that history years ago.

And now, in another exciting episode of "Nobody Cares Pablo!" we bring you the latest updates!

First, I did find a 90980-11503, from a dealer in Florida (more on that later). I placed an order, and the connector actually showed up. And, it actually fit with 90980-11502!

So then I thought it was time to get real and pull the radio and see if these connectors were worth the effort.

They were. The 11502 (F) fit right into the back of the Nakamichi stereo. The 11503 (M) fit right into the LX-470 wiring harness.

Victory! Well, not quite there yet, but close. Just need to mate my wires up with the Pioneer harness, and then plug right in.

Pictures later...

So, if I follow the logic here, if I were looking for the male companion to a 90980-10807 (F) [Toyota 14 pin amplifier input] , I should be looking for a 90980-10808 (or maybe a 90980-10806)?

[Edited to add]

Just in case someone is going through a similar seach, I was able to narrow my scope to a 90980-10806 by looking through this document:

Interesting! Your link has 451 pages, my link to the same (below), has 410 pages.

FYI - I got a very thorough looking version of the Wire Harness Repair Manual.

Not sure if MUD will take the upload? Trying now..

The last thing you need are the male terminals for 11503 connector.

You can go with Toyota Repair Terminals - 82998-12410, or you can find a terminal from a supplier and crimp your own.

The Toyota repair terminals fit the connector body very well, and have 160mm of wire already crimped. They are not the most economical option.

If I were doing it again, I would order the 1.3mm male terminals here: Pin Terminals for Motorsport Connectors - Corsa Technic

I got word from someone that they figured out which terminal from Corsa fits the 11503 connector:

HE 050 Series Pin Contact

At $0.15/each, they are a pretty nice deal compared to buying the repair terminal from Toyota. The Toyota pieces were nice b/c they already had a section of wire crimped in place.

Hope that can help someone!

Were you able to ever get a 90980-10806? It shows up as NLA, and I'm looking for one now . . .

I was able to get the connector, that I was looking for, but it seems to have been the last (new) one in the whole world.

I tried to order 1 or 2 more, most places showed it as “out of stock”, those that showed it as “in stock” would cancel the order a couple of days later and send a NLA note.

I am trying to remember - what is this connector for?

Thanks, it does seem it's NLA. I'll buy a similar sized connector and mate and just swap the plug.

Looky what I found!

It looks like you can still get these from Lexus, but not Toyota. I bought a second one if anyone needs one and cannot find them. if you want to order directly, I got these from Lexus of Carlsbad in California.

@PabloCruise So... Can you let me know how the pins fit into that connector? I can probably force them in upside down, but would prefer to not fat finger this thing up! There is a retainer block that pulls out. Do the pins' crimp side face towards or away from that retainer?

Hmm, good question.
My memory is that they only fit one way.
Can you show me the retainer block?
Not sure I remember that either.
I sound like I am getting ready to testify in front of Congress, “I have no memory of the events you are describing...”

Looking at the spare 90980-11503 on my bench...

I don't remember messing with a "retainer block"
if I remember correctly, the "shark fin" on the pin faced the side of the connector with the "latch" for the companion connector.

Thanks a bunch @PabloCruise for doing all the detective work.

For this that are curious about an adapter harness for the LX470 stereo, I found this kit from Corsa-Technic: 050U-22P-1 22-Way Kit It claims to be a drop in replacement for Toyota 90980-11503, and also includes the crimp contacts. For 5 bucks it seems a little too good to be true, but if it works that's by far the most cost effective way of building your own head unit harness.

Hitting order now, and I'll report back if anything useful shows up.
