Ok its october so lets here them. We've all either broken something on the trail or forgot something that almost led to breaking something. I'll go 1st.

So when i bought my cruiser i had to go to greenwood to pick it up. Test drove it and went ahead and purchased. Went to lunch then went back and picked it up. Went approx. 3 miles and it quits on me. Out of gas!! Wife picks me up and we go to the closest station for gas. Got back and still could not get it to start. So we go buy a new battery and still have a hard time getting it to start. Finally get it going and realize i will be late for work so i call in. We get all the way back to pickens and i stop to get pizza for kids. Guess what!! Won't start. Ended up having it towed and had a new starter put on. Wife being upset was not an accurate word to describe situation.

Headed for Va Beach for Christmas 08. Had just put the road tires on as we were going to OBX for a few days on the way back. Headed out of G'ville all packed and before Haywood Rd on 385 the LR wheel came off. Muy puckery. I had torqued the nuts but apparently some mud had packed under the rim and worked loose. The tire and lugnuts headed north and I made it to the inside shoulder.Got the wheel back on with a couple of nuts (the other studs were destroyed) and went to her house to borrow her mom's car for the trip. Good trip though. Sailing on the Bay in 35 knots gusting 50 and no reefing gear. Great time at Hatteras with Andy and company.

So Im on my way to Mt P the other day and as Im cruising along thinking the weather is great traffic is light and the day was off to a decent start I hear the trusty 1F make a sound Ive never heard before( a steady knock). So Im going along at my standard max speed of about 60 at about 3k rpm so I look down and check, temp is good, oil pressure is where it always is but figure ill stop and check things out just to be on the safe side. Well to make a long story short I shut her down to check things out and she was never to start again. Checked the oil and there was plenty but when I went to crank her back up nothing turned. The 1F is completely locked up. Towed her over to Davids for a look see and there is oil in the coolant. Definately not good. So now Im looking for an engine. Ironic since I had a spare motor we rescued from a 1970 FJ40 headed for the crusher , but as fate would have it we gave it away to a fellow club member who was in need of a motor. So a few days pass and David calls. Fate is smiling on us again and he located a 80 something 2F being pulled from a 60. Good news we found a motor( thanks Lextech). Bad news it being pulled because it has a serious lack of power. So here we go with a re build. Good news on that is David was a mechanic for a long time before he went into business for himself and we can do all the labor, bad news is cash is tight and my wife and I have baby #2 due in March. Anyway, lets hope things come togeather and I can get the 40 back on the trail for GSMTR 2011.

Lets see I have quite a few.

Bought my first cruiser back in 93. Traded it for a running s-10 blazer. Within 1 mile of leaving the lot the slave cylinder went out, the starter stopped working, and I had a flat tire.

Bought second cruiser and decided to do a t-case rebuild. Did a great job until.

LOL definitely appreciate the tcase example. I am probably gonna have to rebuild mine next as i had no 4wd sunday.

A couple of years ago when I had the crusier running winning the 2F, I drove up to Wilmington to trade some parts with a guy. I had recently installed a 4X4 Labs high steer setup, and thought for sure I had torqued all the jam nuts on the 1 ton TR ends. So as I am heading back I notice my steering wheel getting more an more out of center. I keep driving thinking, "Man, when I get back I am going to have to re-center my wheel."

You know how your mind keeps working on a problem even though you have moved on? Well, thank god mine did. Because suddenly a flash popped in my head as to the only reason a whell would get out of center. Steering rods changing length! Or better yet, TR's working there way out!

So I quickly pull over, and sure enough my TR's were about 3 threads from working loose. Tightened her up and was on my way. I still really don't know how it happened so quickly. It's funny how vibration can work things loose in a hurry.

Which reminds me to check the steering again before I start driving her again after the V8 swap.

We leave from the anderson side of piedmont to head to Frankies fun park i think. We are in my 85 firebird.

We are heading down Verde blvd right infront of the hotel when my car dies, is getting no spark, stuck on the side of the road until i can head home and get the tow dolly.

turned out to be one of the best dates EVER!!!!

Ok brodi's story goes: One time my dad took the pig to Cullowhee.................
It had its share of problems ending in a dead clutch but a good club and good friends took the nightmare part out of the equation.


and then theres the time the pig went to URE. Anyone see a theme?
First ride with ONSC and im tail gunner and as we all work through kodak the line moves ahead to make room and I come up the sluice with Steve on board. We get 90 percent through and steve yells DRIVER!!!!! and I spin the wheel about 33 revolutions in that direction and realize it will be doing us no good. The steering shaft had come separated and the wheels turned passenger up and embankment and we were well within the red zone on the Puck-o-meter. Noone noticed and the group continued on, steve walked to the parking lot and returned a couple hours later emty handed when some folks come down the trail and say the ONSC gang is only a hundred yards up, still on kodak the whole time.
