so something I can do myself? looks pretty straight forward if so?
Yeah as @baldilocks said, just flip the drive shaft. If I recall the nuts/bolts are 14mm. After installing the DL, you will want to re-torque it after a few hundred miles.

decided a few weeks ago I wanted to upgrade my dash cam - currently have a front only cam and also not super happy with my current rear visabiltiy of my rearview camera when my rear is loaded up with bikes....needed a solution...

so there it is sitting in a box to be installed (soon i tell myself) and low and behind some twenty something bloke in a beater goes and gives me a little love tap from behind after a mtn bike ride - bends the pin on my quickrstuff rack - got lucky! Why did you stop dude....he asks...... becuase it was red I reply......no it wasn't he says...... see that dash camera on my rig my dude that says it was.....he shut up after that.....
happy I had one on the front but the new system is sweet - see below

so after this happens - decide its time to install!
wolfbox g900 tri cam setup - front just near to my winch. Wired my rear after popping it through the firewall at the front and wiring it under the car to avoid having to rip out all the trim. One thing I do is often have a bike rack on which can block part of the view so I found some magnets and glued that to the base of the camera - now allows me to easily move the rearview cam to a few locations - works great I just need to get one of the those super strong magnets but I think its going to work. Got the deltaVS rear view camera mount so will post up when I figure how to mount that - supposed to be simple!

looks a bit fuzzy but this is a freeze frame from an iPhone video - quality is perfect.

The plastic window trim - been looking nasty for a while - found some cheap replacements on eBay. Look pretty decent - will have to rattle can the rear strip for some reason they are silver - 70 bucks

rear quater panel de-dusting project - discovered a breather line....
gonna hunt for areas of dust entry but am pretty sure this is after 30 years so all in its not looking too bad back there

2-3 weeks behind schedule on a big 3- 6 ish months road trip - hey ho…..

Got marine carpet now covering the rear shelf build/sleeping platform.

Had everything out of the back and shampooed and deep cleaned the carpet.

Got the electrics back up and running - 200amp hours of lithium in the shelf platform - charging from alternator or solar.

And got the prinsu rack finally installed.

I reckon another 2-3 weeks to shake out some issues - every now and again I have to hook up a battery starter to get it moving and I’m suspecting a voltage drop issue I’m seeing discussed or starter relay - alternator and starter motors relatively new as is the fusible link.
So need to check output from alternator first!

Split drawer finished and now installed and populated. Had a kid at a local diy maker space do this for me as a little side project to split the older large box into a split level system - turned out quite nice - I was after function not aesthetics as will be rebuilding whole thing in a year or 2. Lower split for spices, cutlery, plates etc - upper has a cooking platform at the front - induction stove kept in hole on the side. Vertical storage behind this for cups, oil,
The left drawer is a marine drawer fridge.

Elaborate and high tech compared to how I go.

Yeah it’s been an 11 year build out - just an ongoing project really and when I described to the kid what I wanted for the drawer he saw it as a challenge - worked out for both of us!!

ton of little updates of late....time to update and document here

off on a walkabout from work for 3-6 months - started in October - 4100miles so far and the rig has been a champion.

lot of elevation changes around Utah/gooseberry mesa revealed my charcoal canister was done - replaced with ACDelco 215-153 Original Equipment Vapor Canister for GM Vehicles 1971- 95 - 10 min job at most

had been chasing a weird random no start issue and trouble shooted it down to the actual starter - id already replaced the contacts a few years back but given I was 'out there' decided to replace the whole unit this time - went back to get the core charge and found out the starter I had was not oem - 1000 miles later - no issues!

Finally got around to replacing the O-ring in the VSS and also dug out the oil seal and replaced that to - been a few hundred miles now and no more tranny leaks!

I was beginning to find my rig darting a little bit when taking corners - my springs are fine - ride height that is and then figured it out had over 80K miles on the shocks - so swapped them out along with a new steering stabilizer - at 250K miles.
Nice garage hookup from a buddy - 200 bucks to install - tough to do on your own when traveling.

some more items - oil , front diff and tranny fluid change all at 250K
Screenshot 2025-12-22 at 6.49.40 AM.webp

and of course 250K miles

Left California, Oct 5th - been an epic trip so far and rig has handled itself great - but....the quiet steady drumbeat of a job offer at a startup is hanging and might cut short what is supposed to be another 3-6 months of a break exploring Oregon, Idaho and Montana in the winter.... If I end up back to work sooner I'm gonna get the rig painted as a treat - got a hookup from a buddy who would charge around 4K - would not be 15K paint job but would be far better than a maaco one (even saying that I've seen some great maaco jobs).....

Probably the most cool thing I learned about was mining history - the state museum in Carson City is amazing - I never knew the history around mining but got hooked - Bodie, grass valley and nevada city - really cool stuff. Bodie was particularly a cool place to visit - at its peak they were pulling 200g per ton of gold versus a good mine which you can pul 10g per ton - I have bored so many people with factoids like this! The guy who discovered the potential for gold there froze to death in his second visit I think.

I assume the Delco canister fit into the bracket just fine since you did t mention modifying the bracket?

no slight mod needed - this is my second install of this canister and I did have to use a metal zip tie to hold it in place - I think thats in the 3rd page of my build thread but is super simple to do
