So if anyone has a secret vendor for windshield side filler trim, fess up! Found one vendor, $50 for the trim.....one side! The joy of a vintage vehicle I guess!

Junkyard or eBay. Sometimes you just gotta pay to get the part you need. This stuff is no longer available from Toyota, so you take what you can get.

Are you sure? I was close to ordering a new set (in black) about 2 years ago but couldn't stomach the price. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure the parts guy checked and could get it.

Well, perhaps they are, I haven't checked specifically for that piece. But I have looked for a bunch of other parts, and so far I've struck out on anything with body or interior.

If you aren't looking for perfect, give me a PM, I may have what you want.
I need the exterior filler piece, passenger side, windshield, it seems to be rubber, for an 84 mini. I believe it clips in after the windshield has been installed to cover the gap between the pillar and the glass.

Well my 16 yo son is driving the 85 4Runner to school and we are starting to spend a bit more money on it to correct a few cosmetic issues. Just ordered (through American Toyota) all new windshield trim. Total price with the mud discount was pushing $300. We needed the flat black version and there seemed to be anywhere from 25 to 30 of each piece available in the US. I have no idea about availability of the chrome version.

FYI, the door drip mouldings are no longer available. None in stock and discontinued part number. Too bad as the price on those (when they were available) was less than $25 each.

My windshield cracked and when I had it replaced i had the guys put in a rubber trim all the way around the windshield. I'll try to post some pics first thing tomorrow. Windshield and trimming only costed me $170 and they came to my house and repaired it.

i think they were polished aluminum, not chrome?

No idea. They are listed in the Toyota system as "chrome". I'm sure that just means the finish and not the actual material.

i do know the black peeled off, and they looked just like the polished ones!

yep.

There's a thread on YT about the chrome trim and the trim in general causing rust so somebody tracked down a part number for the JDM market that used a black rubber gasket instead of chrome trim.
It looked very clean and it was about $40 for a Toyota part.

YT has some virus on it, and my computer is not letting me go to the site, but if you google "toyota 4runner windshield trim yotatech.com"

it should pop up.

I plan to remove my chrome trim and do this during the winter.

The rubber gasket sounds like the cleanest way to go. The portion of the pillar next to the windshield where the trim piece should be is rusting pretty good. By the way, the fellow I bought the truck from handed me a box of misc parts which included the missing trim piece.
