After that, let’s see the timing with a digital light. I think it wants to run right

Does it have brand new pre-pump filter and post-pump filters or old? New gas or old?

That concludes the interrogation

As a shop, I have not had a fuel pump be the fuel pressure problem yet. With trucks in the shop that we diagnose personally.

That’s worth saying out loud.

nice to know that…

I replaced the post pump filter and have fresh gas after a tank drain.

The initial miss ( head gasket) was consistent hot or cold because it wasn’t running on all cylinders, this issue becomes present after warm up, if that helps pinpoint.

My plan this morning is to change out the new O2 sensor for a different one and open the throttle blade to get the IAC down, is that as straightforward as it sounds? I changed out the IAC valve in the beginning of this process last Summer. Is there anything needed to set up a newly installed IAC valve?

Thanks all for the assistance!

Here is the video at initial startup, ran and sounded great, however once it warms up and you gain confidence for a drive, it starts running poorly. You can stop, let it cool for a few minutes restart runs great, then repeats the poor running.

I had my long time Toyota Master Tech adjust the valves and complete a couple of gaskets and do the initial start up.

After my first drive I thought it could be timing related, however we checked and adjusted between 10-15* degrees (which is where the truck like to operate) and outcome is the same.

Show us a video of starting it and adjusting the IAC so we can see how responds. Gotta start there this morning.

You can do it cold when the IAC is wide open (100%) and system is struggling to breathe like that. You can dial it all the way in once warm

One change at a time or you *will* end up chasing your tail.

Snipers sense fear

This is worth saying out loud too.

This could also blow up on me and we don’t fix it. But still start with the IAC so we can diagnose according to the flow chart.

Do switch to the other screen now. We will need it to diagnose fuel problems if it comes to it.

Murphys Law can be calculated. There are a few formulas. The sooner we put numbers to the variables, the sooner we get to the bottom.

I started the clock 30 mins ago. We are going to bill someone for this. Whats our shop rate?

-hijack over for now-

IAC was a complete mis-understanding for me…after 60 years of “idle speed adjustment screw” all I saw was that. I had to re-program my own head to say ..idle speed is the electronic screen setting and the throttle plates control this 12% setting. There is the tape trick that never worked for me but you’ll need to look that up as i’d forgotten it a year ago.

For s#!ts and giggles I typed IAC into ChatGPT…and asked it for a Toyota 2F Sniper EFI 2300… near human responses but interesting read.
@desmocruiser , we’re all watching…best of luck. Have you ruled out vacuum leaks?

Cold start pre IAC adjustnent

Open throttle blade until the IAC is in the range in the manual. Still struggling to breathe

Otherwise seems normal so far. Whats the idle speed in the computer?
