I just took apart my seat that doesn't work, to try to figure out exactly what's wrong with it. Leaning back, it will lean all the way back, and the same leaning forward. It feels as though there are teeth inside that are not catching, or stripped out. However, if I put force on the lever, it does seem to lock in place as long as my hand is there. Is it possible the spring is worn out, and a replacement spring of the correct tension would fix the problem?
If so, does anyone know what spring I'm looking for? Nothing listed for a part (that I can find) on toyodiy or megazip. Appears to be the assembly only.
If not, is buying the assembly my only hope for fixing the seat? The adjuster assembly is riveted together. I don't relish the idea of popping those rivets to open it up, and I don't have a way to rivet it back together afterwards.
