Thanks mate, I have spoken to a few reputable people in the automotive and they say the extended shackles are ok, but yep definitely agree that flat springs will cause a heap of problems.Spudman, the springs will definitely make a difference - mine was a proper pig with the extended shackles and flat springs. It used to almost hurl itself into the path of oncoming traffic at times, to the extent that I wouldn't let my wife drive it.
I did new shocks & springs (OME) all around to lift mine and it was like a different vehicle. I chucked the extended shackles into my spares bin (where they still reside today) and swore never to use them again!!
Thanks mate, I'm going to run a pollI'm with NQ on the extended shackles, last times i ran long shackles she felt like a giraffe on roller skates, just too much sideways movement for my liking.
It's a lot better lift than body lift though I did speak with a s***load of blokes at tuff trucks who got defected for extended shackles at the gate this year, seems NSW RMS does not take kindly to extended shackles.
Was the old steering wheel twisting?
You know the cure for that is sikaflex pumped into the holes at the back of the wheel then wrap upside down duct tape to hold it in while it cures.
Nah the old one is good, excellent in fact, so I want to put it away for whenever I sell it
