This is my first time reading this thread. I just gotta say, I would pay $5 to see a video of what you describe here :D

Really nice work on the cruiser, especially the body work!

Thanks for the vote of confidence mate.

Even I would have paid more than that to see that video:grinpimp: yes it was an awesome drive, but small towns are like that, I'd never have tried it in a bigger town or city:steer:

Call bobby or Brandon at east coast 4wd and tell them Jesse sent you. (02) 9602 1502

I saw the master switches there only the other day.

Thanks Crick

I'll have a look at this Sahara one first and if that's no good I'll give him a call

 Spudman

This morning I wired up my alarm, well immobiliser actually, cause I not really interested in a wailing siren, I just want to make sure the mongrels can't start it, not sure if I'll wire it up to the central locking or not.

Then this afternoon I adjusted the toe out, it was 5mm out and driving like a crab, amazing what 5mm can do, now it drives totally straight.

Also the shockies I purchased for it, Rancho 5000's don't have enough travel in the front, when I purchased them it said they were suitable for 2 inch lift, I have standard springs with extendable shackles, so it should be ok. But it's making noises when it's bumpy :bang:

Anyway live and learn :D

Damn, i just bought some cheap as shocks to get mine back on the road, hope they work! I know i shouldnt have but just need it up and running for the missus and kids and cash is tight.

That landcruiser graveyard looks inviting, too bad its 3000klm away!

I know ya don't need the advice now, but did you try a hair dryer to remove those decals? And as for welding around windows, gutters etc the steel in house door frames is a good match to weld into 60's, slightly heavier guage but has corner profiles you can easily adjust with a hammer and bar/dolly, but doesnt look like you are short of volunteers anyway.

Hey Paul

Yeah I need the ones that have around 600mm of travel. Yeah it's good having all these 60's lying around, if need something let me know.

I also tried hair dryer, all sorts of adhesive remover, just about everything, I've been cutting the old cars up and using the matching pieces to repair mine.

Thanks mate

Just pop a roobar and tail gate in the mail for me ;)

Come to think of it, send everything in between too!

Seriously though, cheers thanks for the offer, if theres anything easy to post i'll take ya up on that, let me know if theres anything you are having trouble getting sent from down here.

No worries mate, sounds like you need to make a trip up here in the dry season  just make sure you bring a trailer.

And also thanks for the offer :)

So I went out to the junk yard today, I've been looking at this Sahara there for awhile in regards to the master power window switch, so today I had a closer look and it will be perfect.

And it's in grey, the switches seem ok to :D, just need to wire it up to make sure.

So I just went outside, had to wire it up and yep all works perfectly:clap:

So I mounted it to my door and all looks factory now :bounce:

If anyone wants the aftermarket brown one, let me know, the central locking switch works fine. The only window that won't wind down by the master switch is the front passenger, it winds up ok, probably just a loose wire.

It's free, you just pay postage:D

I was just having another look at my front shockies the Rancho 5000. The ones I was sent were RS5158 which equates to fully extended at 20.875 inches which is 530mm, way to bloody short:bang:

No wonder they're knocking, definitely not suitable for a 2 inch lift

So I need to order new immediately before I snap the ends off, I need the long travel ones 600mm.

Ah well, live and learn :grinpimp:

Today I purchased new Munro 4x4 shockies with the extra travel, these ones are 600mm or especially for Callahan 23.6 inches

Took it for a drive and it's improved the ride immensely :D.

Also put the steering wheel on straight, it's a psychological thing :grinpimp:

 Spudman

Hey Paul

I got them from Repco here in Halls Creek, I was originally quoted $334, then the wheelin and dealing started :D I swapped my 9" HID spotties plus $100 cash for the shockies :grinpimp:

So a good deal in the end and nice drive to go with it :steer:

I've put the steering wheel on straight and I've drove it around a bit in the last couple of days, there is still a bit of play in the wheel and there is also something that not quite right in the front end.

It drives ok, but I can just feel something there. So I've ordered some plates with 3 degree castor correction, so hopefully that will fix it :D

I'll also adjust the screw on the steering box this weekend to reduce the play.

I also purchased a high vis middle led brake light, so I'll fit that this weekend as well.

So looks like another busy weekend

Spud the contacts on those electric window controllers over time kind of build up a bit of corrosion, the contacts are brass, fidley job but you can get them apart and emery cloth them or sand em. Been through it before, fixed a couple of windows that wouldnt co operate.
I fixed mine permanetly, fitted manuals in my sahara. Kept the central lock switch though.

Hey mate

Yep you're right, it's always been said that the manual winders are the best, but I wanted to give it that little extra and plus they didn't cost me anything.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give them a clean, I'm going to wire up my alarm to the central locking.

 Spudman

It is time for some picks of your truck upside down in mud, or other pictures of a landcruiser scrapyard :D

Looks very cool, I hope you corrected steering with the tierods and not by adjusting the steering wheel (that has a dead point that should not be changed)

:bang:sorry mate forgot to get the photos of the scrapyard, I went out there today as I'm looking for one of these

But no luck, all the seats are stuffed, but I did come across the passenger side armrest and power window switch, so that's a bonus

So after I fitted that up, I then decided to fit the centre high visibility brake light, any excuse to stop drop kick tailgaters from hitting my rear end :grinpimp:

Finally I've been playing around with my Mongoose M60 alarm system with turbo timer, I've tried everything but I can't get the turbo timer to work:bang:, the alarm works excellent though :D

HJ60, I just found out what you were talking about with the tie rods, and yes I did just move the steering wheel, so now I'm trying to workout how to fix it.

Thanks

Spudman
