This is the exhaust manifold after being sandblasted inside/outside and having the baked ceramic coat finish. The warp joint receives new O-rings and ring gaskets. The inlet is cleaned up and the oem gasket were part of the kit.

I couldn’t find a “12H-T” decal that goes on the front of the rocker cover.
Is that something that nonexistent or am I just dreaming that I’ve seen it somewhere?..

I have this HJ61 chassis out of the vehicle that this 12HT originates. I decided to go down the rocky road and will not just cut off the 12HT mounts (late mount) and weld them up the FJ62 chassis. Not that I won’t trust my welding but I rather keep the original chassis numbers correspond with the engine and the wehicle. It is a good nick frame however the PO installing heavy duty towbar they had to drill across the double skinned tail section of the chassis. Resulting those untreated M16 boltholes the reinforcement or inner skin got rusted at the bottom.

Yep. High flow turbo (MTQ upgrade).
Naah, its planned to be a DD, true however its going to be wicked.
The body is an 88’ white FJ61 low roof, barn door, regular non VX, brown full vinyl trim pretty good nick all orig. I’ll only swap the headlight and front bib for the early round version I just like that version more. No crazy bigfoot just regular 33” wheels on 2” emu’s.

It has been a while without any significant change in the project as I was out on hunt parts and sourcing.
Now back on track again.
In the meantime I had my gearbox/transfer out and back overhauled. I have removed the entire interiour of the white 62 for clean and fix some of the broken vinyls. Now I’m finishing the rivets on the back section of the chassis, the axles etc has already been taken to sandblasted and powdercoated. The chassis will follow soon. Once all that is back I will get the original HJ61 chassis rebuilt and the pretty 12Ht with this new gearbox and diffs, and prop shafts all ready to receive the body of the white one.
The body will get a refreshing as some dents and paint need attention. Also, repear also I will change the radiator front and panel to the original round headlight type. I so much prefer that one.
This photo is the good the bad and the ugly.. decide which is which.

I have removed the pto winch from the hj61 for my lack of interest at the moment ..maybe one day I will use it for another build.
Very interesting to note however the cut for the pto operating lever at the LH side of the transmission cover. There is this reinforcement spotwelded to sleeve the hole and create a portrusion for the lever and the boot. Without this piece of sleeve (aka) portrusion it is quite impossible to properly install the lever and its rubber boot. Since I’m not a winch man I only admire this awesome mechanical recovery tool.

doing everything properly gives you a great sense of satisfaction. so glad to see you keep this up, differently still following along.

all right, so this is the chapter of converting the square headlights to rounds. I just love the first edition of the 60’ series grill much better than the late model.
There is no other way than changing all the panels at the front except the bonnet/hood.
Since I wasn’t going to mess up the outer integrity of the body I decided to drill off the round headlights trim brackets and re-weld them into my original guards.
Prior to this as part of the 3F/12HT conversion I had to weld up the bracket of the power steering reservoire on the RH arch. The pump and res. at the 3F is on the engine where on the 12HT the pump is below the timing cover and the res. is bolted behind the steering box above the steering column. All that is done plus the engine side of the guards are sprayed up to match the new-old radiator panel and skirt.

Bumper projects.. the fronts had to be riveted as originallyit was a pto winch st front.
My intention with regards to the RR bumper is maintaining originality. However, I must have some slight alterations due to concealment of the hinge assembly portruding at the RH corner cap of the bumper.
The space of spare wheel carrier got the occupied by the long range fuel tank.
So I found a heavy duty hinge kit to fabricate a DYO swing carrier.
