Time for an update.

I took the settlement from insurance and am going to fix the truck myself. Found a fender on Craigslist from a LX450 that is the same color as mine! Score! Drove up to Buena Park and picked it up.

Also decided to ordered a new corner light and mirror on Amazon. I guess I'll see how good they are once they arrive next week.

LX450 Corner Light

Passenger Mirror

I cut the ARB corner tube loose from the wind and removed the bottom section of the tube since it was bent and kinked. This allowed me to beat the wing back up some with a BFH and a block of wood. I then used a large strap and a tree to pull the tube back out away from the body.

It's not perfect but won't rub the tire now. I still need to weld the corner tube back to the wing and get the new fender on. Progress has been good and this will leave with with some coin in my pocket for the next upgrade... stay tuned...

Drop me a line if you need a spare pair hand sir!

I swear to 8lb baby bejebus that they will give a license to anyone!

On my way home tonight a lady had a problem committing to a dedicated turn into a plaza and turned back into my lane while side by side with me. I felt some slight feedback in the steering wheel and saw the pieces of her driver mirror fly through the air.

Figure it out people!

People are idiots.

I got rear ended and front ended the same day. Once on the way to work, once on the way home. The second one, the non-English speaking,-no USA-drivers-license-woman pulled away from the light, changed her mind and jammed it in reverse and front ended me. I was stopped in both incidents.

I had a guy this summer in an f150 back in to me while I was waiting to pull in to the marina where we keep our boat I left about a car length between us while waiting to pull in in case he tried to back up, I sat there in park waiting for the line to clear when I heard squealing tires followed by an uncalled for crunching of my front bumper. The drunk moron got out and started yelling at me for hitting him we had words with multiple witnesses watching (Harbormaster gate, gate attendant, etc.) he said well I have no damage you have minimal so bye and he left in a hurry.
Stupid me was too concerned about the whiplash I received to get his plate number in full but I knew who's truck it was and who was driving but couldn't prove much due to the already existing damage from the previous owner so that was a wash but my 4x4labs front diy was already in route so I really wasn't worried about the damage. That's life now I always have my GoPro on the dash recording and still haven't built the bumper:( but soon enough

Side note it was the same guy who hit our boat with his while drunk 7 years ago and never said a word to us but did to the owner of the marina did 10k plus in damage and we figured that one out and got it fixed on his dime

How do these people even exist in the US? I guess I don't even want to know...

Surprisingly, the actual owner of the had given her permission to have the car and the owners insurance covered the damage!
When she got out of the car and only had a Mexico license. I thought that I was going to have to fix it all myself. I was pleasantly surprised to see it covered.

Some azzhole in an F150 passed me on the freeway shoulder last Saturday - I was in the #1 lane, doing about 60-65 in moderate traffic and moderate rain. I heard a "boom" as truck passed me on left, and could only see that my driver's side mirror had been pushed forward. Called it in to CHP, gave a plate, direction of travel and maintained visual for a good 20-25 min. CHP never came. I followed azzhole to what I assume was his/her residence, but never got a view of driver. Truck drove into gated apartment building, I decided not to go in because 1) GF with me, 2) wasn't sure who guy was/armed/etc., 3) secluded area and unfamiliar with exit points. My "damage" was insignificant - marks are from the truck passenger side mirror (might buff out, but think there is a slightly deeper scratch), but the principal pisses me off - complete disregard for others' safety. Luckily was in 80 and not GF's Fiat 500c  - may have bumped the tiny car into a spin and nasty freeway accident. Don't see value in pursuing an actual report at this point, I can't ID driver. Be safe out there.

So repairs (upgrades) continue. I've had a few changes on the list to do and this accident gives me the perfect opportunity to start down the list. With just over 40k on the Yokohama Geolander A/T-S' I knew it was time to sell them off while I could still get a decent amount for them and look for some new shoes. HHEEEELLLLOOOO 37" Cooper Discover ST Maxx on Level 8 Strike 6 wheels :grinpimp:. (Sorry for the picture quality with the setting sun.)

I still need to adjust my bump stops and trim the flares in the rear. Since the ARB is already jacked up I see no harm in cutting the corners to gain some clearance. And truth be told, it drives much better than I thought it would with the stock gearing still in. But I'm not afraid of the skinny pedal and 2nd gear :D.

The replacement fender will go one once I have all the new grommets and gasket for the fender flare, hopefully next week. The new Depo mirror and corner light are sitting on the work bench. I'm still debating if I want to paint the replacement mirror the stock champagne color or just paint the other mirror black to match. Or maybe line the whole truck since the hood, roof, and front flare are already suffering oxidation.

I also have some other goodies stock piling in the garage for future install... More to come.
