Since nobody bothers to read the faq, I will post a few comments.
1) 100watt 9005 bulbs do not equal 100watt H1, H3, or 80/100 H4 bulbs. I ran Hella and Osram German H1, H3, and H4 bulbs for years without a problem. This was why I originally bought the 80 watt 9006 and 100 watt 9005 Hella's from Rallylights.com (Susquena). I thought the first 4 bulbs that blew were a freak accident, but then found out it wasn't. That was what led to my search for something better. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GERMAN MADE 9005 AND 9006 HIGH WATT BULBS, BECAUSE THEY ARE ONLY USED IN THE US. COMPARING GERMAN AND KOREAN HELLA BULBS IS LIKE COMPARING A LEXUS TO A YUGO.
2) Susquena has been talking about changing 9006 and 9005 vendors for 2+ years. The problem is that there is no company that makes better high watt bulbs.
3) 100 watt 9005 bulbs are not brighter than a 9011 HIR. Both put out approximately 2400 lumens.
4) HIR bulbs use the stock wattage, put out the same heat as the stock bulbs, and do not require upgrades to the wiring harness (but an upgrade will supply more light). They are easier on your electrical system and are not a fire hazard which the 9005 and 9006 bulbs are.
5) There was a wonderful two part article in the BMWCCA magazine where the author went through and tested about 10 different 9005 and 9006 bulbs. The HIR's worked the best short of changing to Euro lamps and housings.
But then what do I know. I am just another idiot on the internet.
