So...how would I know what the PO has in there? I'm really happy with my Highs after the Slee Harness upgrade...the Lows are better, but could still use some improvement. What are the indicative markings?

Group Buy ???

SO - So far its...

ME: 4 Hi & 4 Lo
boekppl: 2 Hi
Cruiserhead05: 2 Hi & 2 Lo
TOY350: 2 Hi & 2 Lo

Any one else???
How many do we need commitments from for a group buy??

If only I could remember who arranged the first group?? Anyone??

(and yes - I did use my feeble search skills first)

HIR - high intensity reflector (if i remember right). Basically takes a std. 55w bulb and through the shape of it, increases the output a lot
IPF - brand of light, like Hella or Cibie

Safado - just take out your bulbs and check. They should say right on them what they are (likely 9005/9006) and the wattage.

I got mine at a local Deere parts place, they came up at $38 retail, I just asked if they could do any better, and they dropped them to $31 ea.

Any way to confirm that these bulbs are 'THE Bulbs' ???

I got the high beam bulbs from the guy - same stuff...

For the low beam ones, I got from the local JD store. Go to www.deere.com, then parts. Register (free), choose a closest local store, then order the bulbs (part number is in the FAQ). Price was $26.75 / each as of last August.

My low beams are the J Deeres as well, paid about the same price. High beams through D Stern.

I got the Deere's over a year and a half ago; they were the "original" GE ones. Supposedly, the Toshibas are a little better, but these are just fine with me.

I think Deere carries the Toshibas now, but not sure. When you go to pick them up, look at them and make sure they are both shaped like the ones in the ebay link and have the ultraviolet hue.

I got my HIRs on ebay a short while back for $29.95 lows and highs. I am VERY happy and impressed with them... I'll look to see who the seller was and report.

The HIRs from the seller on ebay are in fact the Toshibas and they are $30 each and shipping is $4 per order up to 8 bulbs, not bad at all. That sounds like it might be the cheapest route.

Does John Deere carry the Hi-Beam HIR's aswell? part number?

ok...mine are stock.

what are people talking about with the 9011 and 9012? Do they superceed the 9004 and 9005 or are they better? Thanks

yes I read the FAQ.

The 9011 and 9012 are just a different specification of bulb.

John deere only carries the low beams.

For everyone's information there is a very slight mod that needs to be done to the HIRs. One of the retaining tabs that holds the bulb into place needs to be slightly trimmed down to fit. I used a Dremel tool and it took about 30 seconds to do it. A file will also work, and I've heard of people using nail clippers! The bulb holds secure, identical to the stock bulbs.

Correct, i used a dremel and it took 2 secs! Hardest part was holding the bulb so as not to touch it while doing this!

I only did my low beams so far and i got them from Dan Stern! Very VERY Nice Upgrade and a super guy to deal with!

I just ordered my headlight upgrade harness from Slee and it should be here soon. I plan on trying to find some 100W Hi Beam 9005's. I know they aren't "Legal" but i drive my truch fairly rarely and when i am driving it, it is usually either on back roads or down in Baja where it is PITCH black @ night! I want all the light i can possibly get.

Does anyone know of any real hi wattage 9005 bulbs? Dan Stern advised against it due to legality and so on, but i NEVER use my hi beams on a traveled way with other vehicles!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Has anyone tried the IPF HIR's yet?? I posted these awhile ago and no one replied. They make top notch products and i am surprised no one has tried these yet!

Here is a link (they are at the very bottom):

The IPFs are the same as all the other HIR bulbs, as I beleive Toshiba is the only manufacturer.... IPF just rebrands them.

Your high power 9005s (Assuming they are the Korean Hella bulbs) might last you a bit, but most have lasted about two months or so. Their filament stands a good chance of being poorly placed as well, causing your beam to be unfocused.

Go with the HIR high beams. The light will be focused where it should be, they'll last you forever, and they only output a little less light than the 100w Hellas.
