If you are even on the fence, I'd try and get tickets, there is always a waiting list if you need to drop out. Last year it sold out in 15 minutes or so

I think this year we are going to barrow or rent a small camp trailer so we can set up a better base camp

I was on the waitlist last year. I put my name on about an hour after it sold out, and I still ended up getting an invite.

Reminds of of the Havasupai registration thing, except this time the website didn't crash and I got a ticket...

I don't think you can transfer tickets. They go to the next person on the wait list.
