First time poster - so please go easy on me if I post incorrectly!

I have inherited a 1996 4.2 1HD-FT 80 and I am trying to teach myself how to maintain it.
The idle is slightly high and I would like to adjust it. I have read multiple posts and know there is a screw which can be adjusted on the injection pump.

Would anyone be able to send me a photo so I can check I have the correct screw? Also it stated on one manual I need to disconnect the accelerator linkage - is this correct?

Thank you so much

Just in case.
There should be a hand throttle, make certain that this is not your issue.

It's not a screw it's a linkage rod. Do yourself a favor go in the resources section of the site and download a service manual.
Hi Skter504. I have read the manual and it states there is a screw - I just wanted to check I had the correct information before doing the job.

Hi Squash. I checked the hand throttle and everything seems to be ok, going to give everything a proper once over just incase!

There's a couple of adjustments there, depending on when it's too high. What is your idle speed and when? Check it warmed up A/C off and again with A/C on.

Throttle cable out of adjustment? Not sure of the -FT but on the 1-HDT, the throttle cable out of adjustment per the FSM could cause idle issues.
