Help identifying a connector in the engine compartment (1 Viewer)

working in the engine compartment today I came across this. Is it something important? Can anybody identify what it is supposed to connect to?

EGR Gas Temp Sensor for California vehicles. Put a tie wrap on it and tie it away from the exhaust manifold.
