Running a 1995 for the past couple of years and it has developed an odd air conditioning problem over the past 4 months. AC will be ice cold upon the first start up of the day and stay that way as long as it is running continuously. But, if on a trip to town I make 4-6 stops (engine off) the a/c will quit working, no compressor kicking on at all. I run a scan gauge and coolant temps are normal 185-195 so it should not be any overheat issue turning it off. Seems to be some kind of a heat sink issue with the multiple stops but not really sure. But after parking it and letting it sit overnight the A/C will be ice cold again in the morning. Since this has been going on for 4 months I don't suspect a freon leak because the air when working is as cold as ever. Any ideas?

In my experience most heat soak A/C issues end up being electrical in nature(clutch relay, clutch connector or clutch field coil). I'd experiment with changing the clutch relay before digging too deep into it.

Just fixed this problem yesterday. New expansion valve and I put a new drier on as well. 40 degree air today!!!

Good deal!

That's the way I like my air too.
