Can someone please look at the images below, observe the distance between tyre and the wheel arch on both sides and also observe the rear shackle element. There is something wrong but I don't know what.

Can someone please help?

From the pictures it looks like a broken spring/springs, a shock wouldn't cause sag like that and it looks like the shackle is still intact

If you took a pic of the leaf spring or shackles it would help.

Are you looking to buy it or is this yours, if yours look underneath. It could be a broken spring or even the front spring mount broke or rusted out. That shackle is pretty messed up, something bad went wrong to cause that is my guess. One side is seriously lower then the other, but picture quality is low and not enough to know what is wrong, but something is wrong.

You are going to need to jack up the rig from the frame. Then look at what is not right underneath. Springs are pretty simple. They are anchored at one end and shackled at the other. Look at the whole length of the springs for a break. One broken leaf can be a lot of lost support.

Is there an elephant in the back?
Lol No

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I am looking at buying it but it's about 1,000 miles from where I am, so an inspection is almost impossible. Have already asked the guy for more info and images. Just by visual inspection I also assumed it was a spring.

If you are looking to buy , find someone that knows these vehicles and at least a fair amount of mechanical knowledge - a lot of cobbled junk is being sold as vintage and expensive . Some cost 4x the original price just to make it "right" , then start restoring from there....be wary .
Sarge

Will do Sarge. Thanks for the advice

Just a few years ago, nobody thought twice about just coming on the forum and asking for help from locals to go look at a truck. Now there are so many flippers and wannabe restorers trolling our forum for THEIR next score, it just doesn't seem as safe to ask for help.

The clubhouses are still a decent source for help. Use a little diligence in looking at who it is offering to help. There are still a LOT of good people ON this forum.
