Hi Nick,

I want to stay clear of Cranbrook, at least till I find DOT/SAE glass for my rear lights. :D

I'm in Nelson.

Michael

ps: like your new bullbar and winch!

Fair enough. :)
I want to come out to Nelson to visit a friend of mine there.
I was thinking sometime next month. Maybe I could give you a call.

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks for the video Robin.
That is just sick!! Plain sick, and I love it. :) :D

Carzy at the begining were someone asks:
"Are his kids in there?" and a guy responds "Yeah, my son is in there too".
I think that might be a wee bit irresponsible.

But climb at the end is awesome. Pretty unreal.
Crazy to think he did on on wet rock with no lockers.
I have heard the rock at Moab was sticky, but that proves it.

It looks like he is running a 6" Slee lift and 35 MTR.
It's cool to know my 80 can do stuff like that.
Well it could with a lift and larger tires anyway.

Cheers,
Nick

Hey BB,

How can i be depressed? I drive a Landcruiser!

But seriously, I'm going to give it some time before I get too concerned. I need to go through a couple of tanks in order to get a better idea of the mileage.

I've heard anywhere from 10.5 - 16 liters / km depending on the kind of driving but that's also info from some much newer hz's. I imagine they've been tweaked some in the last fifteen years.

Michael

ps: I would like to know what other first year HZ's with automatics are getting though!

Fair enough.

See what you got after a few tanks. The numbers your reporting are low MPG figures for a diesel IMOP.... But hey its an auto. Let see what others post....

If it is....time to start burning some free grease.

i have found the auto around the same milage as a standard in the Toyota Land Cruiser line up. if ithere is a difference then it "might" be a couple MPG, nothing significant.
cheers

Around town it sure keeps the revs low, rarely (steep hill) over 2000 rpm, mostly 1000 to 1500 range. I used to drive my BJ60 a lot harder with it's 5 speed.

Never too late to learn how a diesel should be driven!

I've got that whole comp on video. The number of fully built Tuff Trucks that couldn't get past the first couple of obstacles makes you realise the craziness of "Stormin' Normans" drive. Just a pity the 80 fell asleep at the end.

that run was just fantastic. he made it look so easy.
momentum, clearence and a good driver = great entertainment...
