My wife wanted this pig back in 2011. We bought it from Meryl at Classic Cruisers in Salina while we still lived in the area. He bought it from original owners in 1992 out of New Mexico. Not sure why it was off the road after only 12-14 years. Didn’t really care that there was no engine/transmission/transfer case. Relaitiely rust free after 20 years in his care. Noticed VIN tag reads Oct of 1978, so 40 years old this month!

Plan is to put a first generation Dodge Cummins running gear onto the existing frame. Narrowed Dana 60/70, getrag 5 speed, NP205 tease. Getrag 360 is rebuilt, and I liked the 3rd to 4th gearing better than the NV 4500 in my town wagon. Going for comfort and mileage in this build.

After my wife’s stroke, I realize we only have so much time and projects in our lifespan. Build our premo ride first, then others later. Coyote on hold for now. Garage time limited right now, but will keep pictures posted.

Thank you all for the support and encouragement, even if my welds look like s**t.

Here’s a picture coming home in Colorado.

Here’s the frame cut Cummins transplant coming home in Colorado. The Town Wagon tow vehicle was 4bt/nv4500/np205 powered. Sure miss that rig.

What's your plan to deal with the extra length?

We seen two earlier this year, one didn’t have room for a cooling fan and the other had the front sheet metal lengthen several inches.

That’s my concern as well. There was one in southern Colorado with this combination. I think it had a pusher fan and no intercooler. Since this is all in the dream/planning stage, I’m still open to other options. The OM617 Benz with a Toyota r150 5 speed is still floating around. It seems a little long in the shifter placement I think. Have to replace lift cylinders on my skid steer before really starting to get stuff out of storage container. Parts for a 1970’s 310 bobcat are like finding pig parts.

I’ve seen the 2 you are referring to. The stretched one seemed off somehow. Maybe after paint that would work. I know the 6bt combo will work in a 60 series, so may save it for the 60. Like I say dreaming stage. Probably another 3 months before wife is recovered enough for real garage time
