HAMOM Request - Disassembling a Bus - Nov 22nd

Here’s what I was thinking: GVWR is probably around 26k. It would have been designed to handle 40 ish passengers and still be legal. Thats about 8k of freight. The seats are gone so there’s another 3k. The motor and trans probably weigh 2k plus another 1k of fuel and fluids. So 14k is gone from the max weight. I guess my math was a little off, but not too far. Maybe it weighs 12.
I guess we'll find out how much it weighs. My f550 weighs 9000 or so, Pablo is like 9500. I can't imagine a bus only being 3k more than either of those trucks, even with the power train and seats removed.

Also makes sense, I guess we’ll find out one way or another.

Johnny came over yesterday and we (mostly him) put in some work removing the glass and doors.

For any locals or out-of-towners that plan to attend, you are welcome to camp on my property or bring a sleeping pad and sleep in the house. @GLTHFJ60 feel free to update the main post with this info.

November 22nd is the official date. Post up if you plan to be there so I get enough food and beer for us degenerates!

Gantry crane is now at Ryan's. Bus has had the windows removed minus the windshield. Current plan is as follows:

1. Remove and cut up the roof. Load roof into Pablo.
2. Cut off the sides of the bus. Cut them up and load into Pablo.
3. Cut the floor up and load it into Pablo.
4. If there is time, we will cut the frame up and load it into Pablo too.

Plan is structured to keep the bus mobile for as long as possible, because it's heavy, hard to move, and it has air brakes.

For those coming, bring any and all demo tools you want to play with. I recommend bringing reciprocating saws, for which I will supply blades. I'll have my recip saw and an oxy torch for use.

Get stoked!!

I'll be there!! I'll bring my sawzall and grinder. What time are we aiming at for arrival?

Does Tannerite count as a "demo tool"? 😆

My address is not what you would describe as "Tannerite friendly"

Figure we'd start at 10am or thereabouts.

Dang. I should've remembered that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Oh well.

The bearing in the radiator fan pulley for my tundra decided to self destruct today. I’m not looking forward to swapping it out, but I’m thankful that it happened this weekend and not next.

My work trip got canceled, I'll be able to make it in the afternoon!

Calling for a 50% chance of rain on Saturday. I guess "it'll either rain, or it won't". Fingers crossed for "won't".

Won't matter if it does. We're rain or shine baby.
