Half-Ass.....the rebirth of a Land Cruiser

So 5,153 - 4,600 = 553#?? That's rather dissappointing. Of course, that does not include the added weight of the larger tires, DIY beadlicks, Iron Pig skid plate, winch, tools and parts, etc. I'll weigh my 80 when I get back home for a better guess at the total weight loss. Still, it's a full 1,000# lighter than my fj40

I used roughly 7 sticks of tube at an estimated weight of 2.169#/ft = 303.66# of tube. Now the sliders are prolly another 60# or so so round it up to about 400# for all the tube work on Half Ass. I would be curious to know what your truck weighs too.

I thought the home made front spacers might be a problem and... they are. Caster must be off as it turns the wrong way with any kind of sharp-ish turn. Wide turns seem OK. I've got some yellow caster bushings that I believe add about 3 degrees of caster so I may try them first. Bummer

I think you may be better off putting half ass on a trailer anyway. Even if its a utilty trailer. Half ass may be light enough fir twin 3500 lb axles.

Up a little using the tow dolly. Maybe 1-1.5 mpg. It pulled fine except for rutted sections of road. It got kinda wierd at times so not something I want to take a chance with all the way to Utah.

Probably right. I'm looking for one now but may have to rent/borrow one if I can't find a deal I like in the next few days.
