I have the same box of leftover wiring. I dive in there a lot for other projects

Worked great when I cleaned up the 3fe harness routing . Test fire was one thing, making it fit in a 40 was a whole different story. Not entirely done but you get the idea.

Ignore the bungee cords and the ricer filter. That was to get it to run without fenders. Hard to mount an air cleaner and igniter mid air

Well, I haven't updated this in a while! Sorry, been working on it, just a lot slower right now. I got the fuel lines all routed, and a return line added, tied it into the filler neck vent, it was really the only place I could short of welding a bung into the tank. I also TIG welded a 3/8 barb onto the tank fitting for the feed line. I am not totally happy with the whole thing, but it should work. I might look into putting an in tank pump later down the road.

I also got new seats mounted. Not really part of the engine stuff, but I wanted these for a while so I bought them and started building a mount for them. I still need to make the center console mount on the frame, but it's done otherwise. I will paint it the silver color of the glove box. Should look good with the black seats and console.

The I started patching the poor transmission tunnel. The cumulative damage of 3 transmission and transfercase holes have turned it into swiss cheese. Before I knew how to weld, I had just patched over the last holes with pop rivets. lol Oh well, it will close up nicely and look fine when it's all done. Going to buy a shifter boot for both today.

Hopefully this next week I can start wiring it. Going to trade my brother cars for a few days so I can park his 62 next to my cruiser and remember where to plug in everything again. lol

I like those seats. What are they from? You may have posted it prior, but I'm too lazy to scroll back.

All patched up... installing boots today, and then will put dynamat back down on it. Normally I blend the welds 100% so you can't tell it ever was welded, but since it's all going to get covered again anyway, not point in spending that time and effort. Looks a hell of a lot better now.

Got the crossmember built, and got the belts lined up and on. I had the exhaust done yesterday, I cut myself the flanges out of 3/8" plate and made the o2 sensor bungs as well, brought them to the exhaust shop and had them assemble it all.

My wife had taken today off months ago, planning to go camping for our anniversary weekend... however, there is still Donner party snow status in the Sierras, and it's been snowing more last week, so we spent the day doing the EFI wiring on the cruiser.

And.. most importantly, got it almost finished. The harness I had made, was the best money I have spent on this whole project, he did such a good job, and labeled everything even an me, an idiot with electrical, could figure it out. It was a lot of work still, but nothing hard or complicated. EFI wiring is FINISHED!!!!! That big scary part is over. And more excitingly... once I get the drivelines back, I can torque the harmonic ballancer nut, add fluids, and see what happens. Hopefully, it starts and runs and that is that... crossing my fingers for an easy one. If so, finish buttoning up the engine bay, put gauges in, and with any luck, be driving it by the end of June??? Man.. that would be exciting. Hopefully we'll be camping by July!

Fenders went back on tonight!

It's starting to look like a cruiser again. I'm excited. Going to paint the seat bracket tomorrow, and install the seats and center console for hopefully the last time on this project. That will be exciting too!

You can't go wrong with a 2FE

Wow... I have no updated this in forever. I got really busy over the summer, and fall.. and just now am getting time to get back to it. That being said, the front end is totally back together. We had a bunch of wiring stuff that I have been trying to track down, finally had time this last week to troubleshoot it. I think we got it. I tried to start it, and it was popping through the intake. OK.. maybe dizzy is off. Moved the dizzy a tooth.. or might have missed and gone two, I don't know... and it started popping through the exhaust. Damn.. OK.. well it's got fuel, and spark since it's popping. I needed another hand at that point, so waited until my wife got home. I turned it over until we hit the timing marks, and I put the distributor back in from there.
This was it... it was going to start.....

BOOM. Blew the airbox off the intake this time and shot a nice fireball out. lol. Opps, guess it was out 180. After the ringing in my ears stopped.. we decided it was cold and late and we'd try again tomorrow.

Soooo.... really... really, hoping.. today is the big day. We'll see tonight.

You can't just guess and randomly stab the distributor until it runs man. It will never work. You have to go through the whole long process of stabbing the distributor from scratch. Although not really that long of a process on a 2f or 3fe. Should be some write ups on it. The timing marks on the crank are almost useless when doing this.

I wasnt guessing.... I had set it in with the timing marks the first time. It was close, but I missed a tooth. Then I kinda guessed on which way I missed. Lol. After that I pulled it totally out and reset it, but like i said, using the marks is still 50/50 if its on the right stroke. I did not pull the #1 plug and feel for pressure... I should have. Easy fix tomorrow.

Sounds like youve made a lot of progress. How long did the wiring take?
